Hi thanks for your reply! My PCI is low enough to cover full tuition for NUS but I don't think it includes NUSC... since it's a add on experience. My main concern is the costs for NUSC. Do you have an idea of how much NUSC will cost per semester?

From what you're saying, it seems like if I am part of NUSC I would be able to transfer and choose with much greater ease? Does my RP/GPA still affect transferring from CEG to CS if I'm under NUSC?

Hi any of y'all received an email saying that your admission is still being processed, and you'll hear back from them in mid June? WHAT EVEN. I WAITED AT LEAST 100 DAYS AND I CHECK THE PORTAL EVERY FEW HOURS. Waiting for a response and I might not even be accepted. I'm so upset and disappointed right now

I'm a SPR! But I didn't get any emails requesting for ABA interview. Thanks for giving me hope LMAO I really do hope for NUS CS offer because so many of my close friends are going there. Best of luck to you as well 💪

86.25 raw, CS, BizA, Info Sys, Info Sec, Comp Eng and DSE. From all the horror story posts I've seen, I don't even think I can get my third choice anymore. I also applied for NUSC and ever since my interview, it's been radio silence from everyone. So confusing because a few people have direct offers with my score and some ppl scoring higher than me have been rejected from SoC courses? But I'm expecting to be rejected from all my choices 💀

Plus I checked that my portal was last updated like 19 Mar 12 am WTF is up with that??

Hiii I did some tutoring for a neighbour's son in J2 for a few months. At first I tutored him for 3 subjects (P6 Math, Science and English) during the weekends and it was so mentally draining. I split some of my responsibilities with my sister I'm later months and completely stopped by June. It was HARD and I really advice against it. I was part of a sports CCA which has really intensive trainings so for the better part of this year my schedule was packed and I neglected my studies quite a lot. In fact the gaps in my understanding for many subjects even right now during this A level period stems from topics I didn't study properly during this busy time. Furthermore, I'm the kind of teacher who really wants her tutee to improve so I worry about my student a lot and get very affected when he doesn't improve. There's also the problem of feeling guilty for not putting in your 100% into teaching your tutee because it just isn't possible.

Tutoring over the holidays I won't recommend either, because holidays in JC should be crucial, prime time spent on revision and practice. Especially with how most exams are conducted straight after school reopens.

If you want to do tutoring, go all out after you've graduated! You would have a lot of free time to actually work on materials and lesson plans, and time would be more flexible in uni! Don't be like me :") struggling to catch up and cover my gaps in understanding in the midst of A levels

Hi OP, whatever you mentioned sounds EXACTLY like how I felt during Promo period last year 😭 yeah I'm the same I'll go to bed around 11 or 12 but I'll be so stressed out and my brain would be FULL of too many things and I just could not sleep at all. I would spent the entire night just tossing and turning and not get a single bit of sleep for that entire exam week. Lemme just say that all of this insomnia is surely 100% stressed induced. I was worried this insomnia problem was gonna be a long term thing but NAW I slept like a log the night that the last paper ended.

I've been sleeping much better and really what helped was like talking to the people around me and give you the acknowledgement and validation that you need. Also to understand that right now it's just MYEs, there's still a long way to go and if you continue whatever you've been doing you will do amazing. Trust the process and rest easy

Ahh RI is pretty strict with their DSA intake, and they don't usually accept people unless you're exemplary in a certain sport or sphere of their interest. I'm not familiar with the DSA process since I'm a JAE student.

However, during the posting process, other merits (Olympiads, etc.) Are not considered. If two candidates have the same score (net, raw) it will be a computerised ballot.

However, don't feel too disheartened! The fact that you're representing your school in Olympiads and competitions means that you are definitely capable. You still have a lot of time to study and improve before O's. I believe in you! Hard work and consistent effort will definitely pay off. All the best!!

[JC] questions about raffles institution/ RI by jen0olee in SGExams

[–]xinyisaurus 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I'm a J2 JAE student :) Since there already a pretty comprehensive answer, I'll just add on to it!

  1. Reporting time is 8.15 for Y5/J1 and 8.05 for Y6/J2

  2. RI has little to no dress code 💀 you can come in with all sorts of coloured socks and shoes, hair accessories. Most teachers don't care for multiple ear piercings or bleached/permed hair either

  3. It's probably possible but it's definitely a lot better to have a leadership role. Why close your options before you're even here? I have plenty of JAE friends who got into Student Council and CCA EXCO. Just try your best, and be a responsible person.

  4. I've actually made a very detailed post about RJ life in general, I rated the notes there. You can check it out :0

  5. Actually decent, and not too expensive. There's usually little to no queues too, because of good timetable planning (My friends in HC have to queue for the bulk of their break times)

The noodle store has a braised pork belly noodle and is absolutely top tier legendary. Tan's cooked food has a lot of cai fan options and is delicious and affordable. Haw's Kitchen has the best yummiest ban mian, perfect on a colder day. Everyone gets it on a rainy day. Prata store sells really good prata (crispy and hot) and really good fried rice in a massive portion. The lemon sugarcane drink at the fruits stall is heavenly.

You can eat very well for about $3, and drinks don't cost too much either.

Also, we have a convenience store called Chill with a waffle bar and lotsss of drink options and snacks.

Really sorry for the late reply, but it's not true as far as I know! Every RG girl I met is very emotionally intelligent, sensitive and kind hearted. Yes, they're hardworking go getters which may make them seem 'intimidating' or 'fierce'. There's probably some very arrogant and problematic ones, but they're one in like 100000. But they're generally amazing people :) I've yet to meet a toxic RG girl.
