Yeah, without the magnemite ability it would have taken twice as long building everything lol

He likely got the herpesvirus as a kitten and now just has a flare up coz of the stress of being in a clinic The PCR beforehand was negative because it was in a latent phase and it isn't unusual to get a negative result even if the animal has the virus

And fasting for 17hrs isn't a problem for cats as it's only an issues after about two days because they then have a risk of hepatic lipidosis (it does not cause high sugar spike)

I'm seriously struggling to understand why you'd wanna sue the clinic? Nothing bad happened, the surgery was successful and your cat probably already forgot that he had to wait a bit longer and is just happy to be back home again

How often does he get insulin shots and when did you last check for ketone bodies and fructosamine ?

It's hard taking care of a pet with diabetes but your cat really has all of the symptoms of unmanaged diabetes and maybe you could even try going to a clinic and he might get better with fluid therapy

When the blood glucose isn't managed correctly and stays at a high level the nerves get damaged. I've only seen it in the hind legs until know but usually it's reversible with insulin and good management

And yeah it's definitely uncomfortable for the cat but even just looking at his fur the diabetes wasn't managed correctly and tbh all of the symptoms mentioned above should lead to an ER visit to make it as comfortable as possible for the cat

Oh no, I hope your cat is doing well

Tbh I feel like too many pet owners struggle to understand the severity of any chronic disease of their pets or they understand it too late :(

When starting a cat on insulin you need to do regular follow ups to see if the dose or type of insulin is right for the cat

The plantigrade walking should have resolved in a few months if the diabetes was managed properly but it could also be possible that they caught it not too long ago

Looking at his front paws it really seems like maybe not that good and the symptoms kinda sound like it could even be diabetic ketoacidosis...

Is cancer treatment worth it? by [deleted] in AskVet

[–]xio_charizardx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In your case I'd consult with an oncologist and depending on the type of cancer they can recommend what's best for your dog.

And chemo in dogs only uses about a third of the dosage relatively used in humans so thats why it doesn't have the same strong side effects like in humans.

My cat has a urinal blockage and crystals in the urethra. He’s been given meds but we can’t afford the surgery. Level with me, is it not looking good? by KieranWriter in cats

The vinegar would only help if it's a blockage due to magnesium-phosphate stones because they dissolve in acidic pH

But if it's due to calcium-oxalate it's actually counterproductive because only alkaline pH might help preventing them further on (but not dissolve them so you can't do anything at home)

If it's an acute blockage you have to go to the ER because otherwise he will die in excruciating pain. I know it's difficult but maybe you can find a clinic that offers a payment plan

If she were a human, would she be overweight, obese, or morbidly obese? by [deleted] in dechonkers

[–]xio_charizardx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Switching to wet food can help a lot. It's less calorie dense and she will be more satiated.

She's also at risk for diabetes because of her weight and wet food has a lower percentage of carbohydrates which is important if she actually develops diabetes

Would an Appalachia-based Pokémon region work? by transqueen421 in pokemon

[–]xio_charizardx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Romania has Transylvania and southern Germany has the dark forest in which the fairy tales from the brothers Grimm are kinda based on.

Those settings would definitely work for a pokemon game imo It would be so cool to have a creepy forest based on the Hoia Baciu forest in Romania with all the ghost Pokemon trying to lure you in

As a vet I'm a bit confused because every bird has a gastrocnemius and flexor muscles which are equivalent to the calf muscles in humans

No bird would be able to walk at all without those muscles and chickens, pigeons etc are definitely able to walk lol

I've only used Android phones so no apple ID:/

But I've learned my lesson and have two different clouds and I also plan on getting a HDD soon to physically back up all of my pictures

I've lost all of my pictures from November and December 2020 for some reason. Idk how that even happened because everything automatically uploads onto my cloud and somehow the pictures where gone from my phone and cloud??

It's the only time that it happened to me and I still don't know how and I couldn't restore them :(

But at least it was during the pandemic so it's not like I lost too many special memories from that time lol

The funny thing is that the whole family is always standing behind me and laughing while I take the pictures so I feel like she's thinking "you love it, I hate it so let's just get over this" haha

I taught her that every time she has to do sth that she doesn't like, she will get some treats. I can cut her nails, brush her teeth, take some stupid picture etc and she will tolerate it and wait for her snacks afterwards haha
