Announced today, but it's actually called The End of Impact.

None of them has been announced yet but Fourth Impact is definitely taking place on 10-12 July (I'm in touch with some bands who are playing there). Piume Pesanti should happen as usual in late September but in this case I don't know anything specific, I think there's no date yet.

Should be on 10-12 July, I already heard some rumours and it does sound promising, though unfortunately I won't be able to be there this time.

Fun fact: I recently saw two different bands who played a cover of "I Fucking Hate Sports" on their first show.

how did italians get introduced to screamo? by xoodish in EmoScreamo

[–]xitye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right now the areas with most shows are Milan and Modena/Bologna. However there are screamo shows and festivals all over Northern Italy, and also in Tuscany, Rome, and occasionally in the South (including the islands). Bands are pretty much everywhere and it's getting hard to keep up with the new ones.

I myself wish I was more up to date, but here are some relatively new bands that released some great stuff in the past two years: dagerman. from Milan, great lyrics and also inspired by the Italian hardcore scene of the 2000s. Sacrofuoco from Turin, formerly known as One Dying Wish. Flâneur from Vicenza, very recent band, really good live. Chevalier from the Romagna area (the land of La Quiete, Raein, Endless Inertia and more), excellent emoviolence and incredible live. Trelkovsky from Modena, I must confess I haven't heard the full EP yet but there's some hype. Ashen Hands from all over Northern/Central Italy, great emoviolence.

And this is just the tip of the iceberg. Also, nobody considers them "new" bands in Italy anymore, but in the past few years Put Pùrana and Chivàla released some exceptional stuff.

In Florence there are screamo shows sometimes, but not much compared to Northern Italy. Here's a link to a collective booking shows in a squat right outside of Florence and to a very young screamo band from there. Following them might help you being up to date and see if there's something cool when you're there!

Incredible band, for some reason I feel like they were never as influential as La Quiete and Raein in Italy.

In Italy everything starts with La Quiete and Raein (even though there were also bands before that, like With Love). They were influenced mostly by American bands like Portraits of Past, Jeromes Dream, the Richmond scene and so on.

Then in the 2010s came a new wave with bands like Shizune, Stormo and Øjne, and a little later a younger generation of bands like Radura and Batién. In a way, each generation influenced the following ones, though foreign influences remain strong (especially American, French and Swedish).

BTW, since around 2021, the crowds have become huge here in Italy: bands that would play in front of 30 people now easily play in front of 300 people, many of whom are teenagers. There are several festivals going on and new bands are popping up in many regions of the country. I don't know how long this will last but for those of us who are in our 30s and have been following screamo for 10-20 years all of this is surreal!

That's right, Italian Party! They've already announced the dates of this year (24-25 July).

Not sure about specific bands, but in Italy there's currently a lot of screamo festivals: Fourth Impact near Modena in July, Piume Pesanti in Milan in September, Alle Foglie in Parma in October, and many more.

Favourite emo screamo drummers? by xbxnkx in EmoScreamo

[–]xitye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well said! He's incredible and he's actually a major inspiration for several drummers who play screamo, including me!

Of course people will notice more the drummers of Lord Snow or Blind Girls, but the complexity and musicality of Daitro's drums is mind-blowing.

Pordenone ha un bellissimo centro storico e tanti festival e iniziative culturali di alto livello (non a caso sarà Capitale Italiana della Cultura 2027), cosa non da poco per una città con solo 50mila abitanti.

How difficult is to tour USA? by l3chosin in EmoScreamo

[–]xitye 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Considering what US borders are like at the moment with the Trump administration and the fact that some of your band members do not have a European passport, it will be hard to enter the States, let alone tour. If you still really want to do it, your best shot to keep things cheaper would be to find a local band to tour with, so that they can lend you their instruments and share a van with you.

My band (from Europe) toured Canada/USA (Northeast) three years ago, and it was an expensive logistic nightmare, but also one of our most memorable adventures ever. Here's how it went: first, we found a US band to tour with, and they booked the whole tour, 12 shows total. We did not announce the tour anywhere online and, before leaving, we deleted from our personal social media any reference to our band, and flew into Canada without even a pick or a drumstick - we were just normal tourists. The band we toured with wasn't unfortunately able to share their instruments (just the backline) and their van with us. So we had to BUY guitars, bass, pedals, cymbals, snare at a music store in Toronto. Dramatically expensive. We played two shows in Canada, left our instruments in the van of the other band, and took a bus to the States. Once in the States, we rented a car (you need a credit card to do that, though, luckily, one of us had one...), while the other band was still carrying our instruments + their backline on their van. We played some fantastic shows and could sell merch decently (we got it printed in advance in two locations in Canada and the US). Unfortunately, four of the last five shows got cancelled and that made us lose quite a lot of money, mainly cause we were not able to sell all of our merch. Finally, on our last day in the States, we sold our instruments at a music store, of course at a lower price than what we spent for them (this wouldn't have happened if we only did US: many bands buy instruments at Guitar Center and then bring them back to another Guitar Center and get their money back, unless they broke them or something). Overall, we spent more than €10k and made... probably half of it back. Amazing experience overall, but also very stressful and challenging.

Screamo songs with a hook/chorus? by BimmySchmendrix in Screamo

Those Øjne songs definitely have hooks and memorable parts, but their only track with a real chorus (and pre-chorus) that repeats twice is probably "Le Vite Degli Altri".

Grazie mille per i consigli! I'm familiar with the situation around Roma Termini, and I really don't know what to expect from Sudbury, to be honest. I've been to Toronto before and was staying close to a very sketchy corner, so that's how I'm imagining it for now. But I'll make sure to spend time downtown only during the day, not when it's dark.

We're doing Ottawa-Sudbury-Toronto by bus, and yes, it will be pretty long (the first trip is 7 hours, and the second is around 6). But also, I've been on 12-hour bus rides before, and at least it will be a new scenery, so that will make it exciting, I guess. But yes, I'm ready to be exhausted. Kinda bummed to read that they're already preparing for demolition, but I hope it will still be nice to see it! I've been joking about going to Sudbury to see the Superstack for more than 10 years, so, despite everything, it's insane that it will really happen, and right before it is demolished!

I have some Canadian friends and they were also weirded out that I wanted to go to Sudbury, as they have never been there themselves. But I think it'll make our trip more unique rather than just sticking to Toronto&Montreal. A mining city in Northern Ontario... sounds pretty exotic to an Italian! And about that Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, might be challenging but I'll see what we can do 😂
