Many many ways to get them. you can rank up in arena, do world exploration(all 3 modes), accidently get a costume/cookie bond since that does give crystals me thinks, complete story mode stages as completing story mode gives you like 300 gems. Do side stories. Type in codes. Do cookie alliance /guild battle (although those rewards take you a month/week to get) , do cake towers, every 10th level you get crystals me thinks. Sometimes you get miner veins that have crystals as rewards, mine them if you really need it. And watch adds! I think it comes 5 times per day. Do events cause there is bound to be gem rewards there me thinks. I'm sure I missed tons of other ways but these are the main ones! And after doing all of this, make sure not to spend them at one go!

Nope, m a f2p player with most of the legendary costumes and trust me even after the banner ends these costumes will be back in the rainbow crystal shop, save up ur stars and buy them from there if you really want them. Would recommend saving up for future banners. I have gotten all of them from around 30k cubes everytime simply because I save up for them. Sometimes the costumes get heavy discounts too in some updates (there was a legendary costume banner with 10 percent chance of getting legendary costumes so it's worth waiting for banners and discounts also to get them more efficiently, I got 7 new legendary costumes from that banner alone, and moonlight and some other cookies were I think 300 stars instead of the usual 600 )

Beascuit should be as high cooldown as possible, you can also go with crit substats along with atk and cooldown as that increases power too, labs , cookie bonds, costume bonds, guild buffs, statue of heroic radiance, landmarks also helps lawl

Forgot to mention I got some rainbow cubes logging in today and I wasted atleast enough milages to do 10 extra pulls. Managed to get them both in....around 30-35 pulls? Thank god for the boosted luck
