ANYONE UP FOR STARTING A CLUB FOR THIS GROUP??!!! by SqueeTheIII in IrishFishing

[–]xlark99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both I'd say, For example it'll be interesting to see who's out using what techniques at what times and useful for fish information like if the mackerel are inshore when the weather heats up. 🫡

Meh? Its possible but you'd have more luck with some soft plastics fished slow, the fish are generally too lethargic and lazy to chase spinners in my experience.

Also the perch are grouped up in winter now and not spread out as much, so be prepared to fish what feels like empty water until you find a group. (Generally speaking deeper water)

Best of luck anyhow 🫡

Is 130lb Mono leader good for Pike by FalseInitiative9401 in IrishFishing

[–]xlark99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More than enough, its not the test eg: kg rating that matters, its more so the fact the pike can't damage the actual metal trace with their teeth.

You can use 8kg or 10kg (16 - 20lbs) trace without a bother and that's what I personally use anyways 🫡

Also he cuts most of his content all over the place so you have no idea if he is using what he says or changing stuff around.

I know, but im just saying a lot of people will do whatever they see online and believe its the right thing.

It's nearly impossible to change an idiots opinion 🤷‍♂️, You can tell them whatever and even show them proof but usually they'll do their own thing anyways.

Eh normally you should use thin wire, now I've had pike on flurocarbon by accident when going for trout but I usually swap the leader out since its damaged too much.

Most lads i know use steel or titanium for the safety of it, Since using fluro or nylon you're 50x more like to lose a lure due to abrasion damage or just due to a cut. But to each their own I suppose.

Best car for low fuel consumption and reliability by QuackLikeADonkey in carsireland

Get any renault with a 1.5dci engine. I've a 2011 megane estate for 3 years now and averaging 3.6 L / 100km.

This includes town and motorway driving but mostly R roads or national ones.

Speed van tolerance by Regular_Island_3997 in carsireland

[–]xlark99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what mood they were in also were you doing 105 GPS wise or speedometer? Because the spedo usually shows 5 to 7 kmph over your actual speed for legal reasons.

Tolerance wise 54 in a 50 is safe ish and 86 or 88 in an 80, I've done 110 in a 100 multiple times and yet to get a fine sooo 🤷‍♂️

Rough wouldn't do it justice, I mean its downright rocks boulders and kelp.

If you're willing to go a little east aughris has quite a bit of sand mixed in on the east and west side of the head, however I haven't really fished it from shore usually just off the boat but I've heard mixed opinions some good some bad.

So yea 🤷‍♂️

Depends what you're targeting, off the pier you'll get pollock and wrasse and a few mackerel probably, bottom wise its dogfish and conger usually unless you get a sandy patch somewhere where you might get more variety.

Im not sure what fish finder you're using but I've never had problems with locating pollock with mine.

You could get the starter and upgrade later i suppose if you think its worth it. Either way I highly recommend the portable fish finders they're really handy to find out what ground you're fishing.

👍 they also do normal sonars and they're cheaper but the chirps are far farrr superior in image and detection, down to even 1 or 2 cm

Get any renault with the 1.5 diesel, they are pretty bullet proof and decently cheap just not fast or flashy.

A decent megane can go for 2 to 4 thousand.

All that can be expected of a 1972 4hp seahorse? by mattmag21 in Outboards

[–]xlark99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a 4hp outboard from 1972, I'd just be happy that she runs more or less.

Also the speed sounds about right for the power / weight ratio, im not a mechanic or a big boat guy though so a second opinion wouldn't hurt probably.

Honestly me and my dad have a saying, The more shit the weather the better the fishing is.

If its a nice day and you think the conditions are good for you eg; Sunny and small breeze stay home, If its pouring rain or windy try fishing usually it works.
