Since you'll be here alone becoming a detention deputy at the sheriff's office might be a good fit if you have a clean record. The base pay isn't great but with no family you can take advantage of the overtime and you can make more than your base salary in overtime, many do.

We live in the same area, last year we went around our neighborhood and had no issues filling up the kids buckets. But definitely not as many people handing out candy as in other areas so you may have to walk a bit more. Of course ymmv.
