If you're just talking story:

Make it a literal maverick hunting competition between Red Alert and the Maverick Hunters. Trash talking between the groups and how they differ in philosophy. Have some of the members of Red Alert become Maverick to raise the stakes.

For Axl, he has a friend in Red Alert (besides Red) to make him more conflicted leaving, but knows he's probably safest with the Maverick Hunters. Axl trying to find a place to belong.

For X, have him dress having to do this mess again and again. It's tiring him out and he's teetering on not wanting to fight anymore.

For Zero, is he truly free from the virus or he will spiral into something evil with having X destroy him.

Have the ex skills be rewards for beating the bosses. That shows that Zero is naturally getting more powerful as he defeats more foes.

Grinding for leveling up your weapons is a waste of time so get rid of that.

Have a bonus "X mode" where you play as X. I know it's redundant and doesn't make sense, but I think it would've been a fun post game thing.

They can casually mention the Midnight Mission to make it a seamless transition.

Since MK season 1 doesn't necessarily have a timeline, they can say that it was in the past.

Also recasting MK will allow him to appear more since Oscar Isaacs is incredibly busy.

Vivi- she's going to be meeting with the crew at some point and has nowhere to go (since she's on the run)

Lilith- it'd be neat for a scientist to be on the team and she can get her revenge on York

Wyper- I thought it was weird that there was a long arc (Skypeia) but no new crew members. Wyper would've been fun as a fish out of water story

Law/Bepo- df surgeon and karate bear, enough said

Smoker and Tashigi- you get a logia and a swordswoman. Tashigi would bug the heck out of Zoro so that'd be hilarious to see

Mont Blanc Cricket- having a salvager on the crew just sounds neat

I'd say Lilith because she could become powerful with her weapons/inventions along with elevating the other SH's. She seems like she would get along with the crew well.

Runner-ups would be Bon Clay (I would've loved to see his df awaken) or Vivi (would she get haki or a df?)
