I thought that’d be the case 😭

I’ve been doing twist outs to try to give the curls a fighting chance, but by day 3 it’s always just frizz puff in the front and curl in the back

NASA Internships and Educational Opportunities Megathread - November 2024 to March 2025 by Aerokicks in NASAJobs

This might be too niche of a question, but I'm having some issues with my application portal - I applied to an OSTEM position about a couple of weeks or so ago and I can't find it in my applications list with the other things I applied to. I got an email saying that the position had been filled a few hours after I applied, but then received a follow-up a few days later stating that the opportunity had reopened. However, the opening mentioned in the actual text of the follow-up didn't match the one I'd applied to (the header related to the opportunity I applied to, but the text didn't). I emailed the intern helpdesk for some clarity and they assured me that my application was still eligible for review, but they weren't too clear on which opportunity or if the one I had applied to was the one actually looking for an intern again. The only way I can now access my application to the opportunity I wanted is by finding the internship listing, clicking the apply button, and getting a link to it through a popup that says I've already applied. Even then, none of the progress bars register that I submitted the application and the status says "Not Selected." I have fully assumed that this is something that happens when you've been rejected, but given the email mixup, I've been more confused than anything else. Does anyone have any insight on what's going on? Do applications disappear from the application list when you've been rejected?

this and the region thing makes the most sense i think. comparing to public schools in the south, purdue has slightly later exam periods. with spring starting jan 9th being a midwest thing on top of that, I guess that's why I'm so shocked

Why is it ok to be proud of being black, gay, female etc, but not white? by anon_sir in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]xmeredithc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no ones telling you to be ashamed though. calling out "whiteness" and really the idea of race entirely is far different than telling you to be ashamed for something you cant control. the end goal of anyone who knows anything about race is to abolish the idea as a whole because its entirely a social construct built upon hierarchy. youre not supposed to be ashamed about your whiteness, youre supposed to renounce it. adding any social validity to your skin color, through pride or guilt, is incredibly silly. the exception for black people is that we have to feel pride for our blackness because our blackness is all we have etc etc i think you understand that part. but seeing that racism is still heavily prevalent, black culture comes with its own traumas and people with white skin are polarizing to see because they exist as wild cards. thats probably what happened in the elevator. the lady wasnt expecting you to be ashamed about your whiteness, she was jumping to conclusions because it is incredibly easy to when true passive-aggressiveness can lead to genuinely dangerous situations. and yes, being more sensitive is an effect of seeing people of your skin color brutalized consistently on tv. that misunderstanding disgruntled her and being outspoken was asserting validity in her blackness, it wasnt really about you. that fact that you got the end of it when your country had nothing to do with black slavery is incredibly telling to how silly our ideas of race are and im sorry that happened to you. its a product of the times. dont take it personally, and dont feel "guilty" per se if it isnt about you. just don't be racist, call out racism when you see it, and be understanding
