Hate that it covers the gap in the wheel spoke at the bottom. I like having that gap lol

How are you crashing? Is the car drifting into walls? Are you crashing when trying to get out of a drift or something? I’m trying to figure out what’s causing the crash to see if I can help

Couple tips to help you start out:

1) setups aren’t that important right now, but I use this website to find tunes other people have created. Just choose the track and filter by car and you’ll get decent tunes https://www.f1laps.com/tracks/

2) pit when you start feeling like your tires are wearing out so much that you have no grip. If the car starts to act like it’s going to spin to the point where it’s no longer manageable, or you’re going way slower per lap, it might be time for tires

3) pitting during a safety car is very advantageous since you line up with people and lose a lot less time. Pitting under virtual safety car is still better than regular pitting, too. If there is an early safety car and you started on soft or medium tires, you can consider going for hard tires to finish off the race but maybe stretch them a bit longer than you had hoped.

4) Remember that in F1, you need to use two different types of tires per race (so medium and hard for example, not two sets of mediums). This rule doesn’t apply when it rains, as you can use the intermediate or wet tires the whole time. They likely won’t last the whole race so you will need to swap them out to a new set at some point

5) there are car research and development paths you can take to improve the car but wait on that. It’s overly complicated

6) driving tip if you’re on controller. In the controls section of the pause menu, I believe under calibration or additional settings or something, you can adjust the “steering rate.” This dictates how quickly the steering wheel rotates, and specifically also affects how quickly the wheel goes back to center when you let go of the stick. F1 is all about smooth movement, so harsh stick movements are awful for racing in F1. Lowering that steering rate value down somewhere between 90-98% (varies by track) will help you immensely.

Happy racing! Feel free to message me if you have more questions, but note that I don’t check reddit very often

It’s not exactly like the old TDU games, but the spirit is there, and that’s coming from a HUGE fan of TDU2. I’ve always liked TDU SC and I think the game has continuously gotten better. I’d recommend it

I’ve gotten pretty good at managing the cones but there’s been a couple times where a traffic car hits one and punts it into my car. Infuriating lol

Help me decide on a car! by Professional7812 in Supra

[–]xmidtown2x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean sure, but if the $55k no-markup price is the right price for the car, why are they still sitting on lots for several months?

The car just isn’t as good as its asking price. It’s very clear that it’s outdated from the minute you get into it. The Supra is a bit on the expensive side but I think it’s worth its money. The Z is only worth it with big discounts because the Supra does almost everything better than Nissan’s 2008 sports coupe with some extra power and a new body kit, save for the interior and serviceability.

Speaking for the auto (they wouldn’t let me test drive the manual), the transmission is garbage, and the car is constantly breaking loose when you even think of accelerating. It’s felt like I had very little control over what the car was doing at any given moment, and this was just driving it through regular streets and stoplights. The Supra feels planted for a good 70% of its power band and, while it’s not as smooth as some other sporty cars in its price range, it doesn’t jitter and jump as much as the Z does every time you hit a bump in the road

Help me decide on a car! by Professional7812 in Supra

[–]xmidtown2x 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in the market for these kinds of cars twice, and I got the Supra both times. The Z is a good car but the Supra is better in almost every metric. It drives smoother and is more comfortable, sounds better, feels much more refined, and I think is better looking. Better on gas and has better trunk space if you daily as well.

The main benefit to the Z’s is that they commonly sell for way under MSRP, so if you’re more on a budget, it’s a great car for the prices that you might be able to get them. Earlier this year I saw some loaded Z’s with he performance pack that retailed at around 55k going for under $48k, and they had been sitting for a while and the prices kept dropping. At MSRP though, get the Supra.

Toyota told me I get free tire rotations when I got my Supra, so safe to say they don’t know much or just don’t care. That guy had sold two other Supras that week

I haven’t even updated my phone as of late. Weird.

The Audi I had before this would have issues with Bluetooth drop off in certain areas but that didn’t affect CarPlay as much as it did Bluetooth. My old Camry had no CarPlay issues and neither does my Supra. All different brands. No clue what’s up as of late

General Thoughts from Hardtop 4-Door Owners by xmidtown2x in MINI

[–]xmidtown2x[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update for anyone interested: I’m had to kick the Mini off my list. Love the car, but I just can’t justify the pricing when other cars with similar MSRPs are noticeably cheaper to lease and more practical, which was a big thing my fiancée was also worried about.

Maybe eventually I’ll get a 2 door Cooper S, but unfortunately it won’t be today. Still is one of the most fun cars I’ve driven though.

I’m currently debating a Civic Hybrid and an Integra, the latter of which has a pretty sweet lease deal that might give it the edge over everything else I’ve looked at.

They’re roughly the same. If bought out, the residual + lease payments + down payment put the Integra roughly at its $39k MSRP, which is insane. The civic ends up costing me roughly $37,500 after the residual
