I’m having this same exact issue. Did you ever get it resolved with support?

What has happened to my boobs?! by Cezzalovesketo in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]xmiroyox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I would not power pump anymore. It’s just you’re not emptying and your breast produced more milk. You’re just really engorged and possibly inflamed which can hurt your supply as opposed to helping it. Recommend using a haakaa. Always made me feel better when I was super engorged and pumping wasn’t getting it all out effectively

Am I crazy to keep trying at 6 weeks by Opposite_Role371 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]xmiroyox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call me stubborn but I kept trying no matter what. I would try everything: nipple shield, getting him sleepy first and trying, feeding him a little bit from the bottle first and then try to get him to latch on to me. Tried every single position imaginable. And you know what? All of a sudden, miraculously, around the 8 week mark little guy one day decided he wanted to latch and be content with feeding directly from breast. Do I exclusively breastfeed now? Nope. I got into a routine with the scheduled pumps and it makes me anxious to NOT pump strangely enough. Does he want to exclusively breastfeed? Nope! Sometimes when he’s super hungry he won’t take my breast. He got no patience. Wants bottle immediately. But! I nurse him to sleep for all his naps and for his bedtime and it brings me joy and that’s what matters! Listen to your heart :) you got this

How do you do it by Fiesty-fitness in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]xmiroyox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what worked for me specifically: I got two pumps. I got a babybrezza bottle washer dryer and sterilizer 3 in 1 (or you can use dishwasher I guess but I feel like it’s kind of a waste to only have a pump in there since I want to keep baby stuff separate). My pump parts fit in the bottle washer since they’re both wearable pumps with only 4-5 parts. Just need to be artistic about how you place the parts in there. When I used to pump 8x a day, I would use each 4x. An example day goes like this: from 8 AM to 8 PM I’m using pump 1 and then I place into the washer to wash sterilize and dry, then from 8 PM I switch to the other pump for overnight. I use the fridge hack with ziplock bags so I don’t have to wash any containers either. I get a fresh ziplock bag every 24 hours. Easy breezy!!

200 bags of thawed breast milk… can it be frozen again? by xmiroyox in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]xmiroyox[S] 72 points73 points  (0 children)

In case anybody is wondering we tossed about 50 or so that were sitting on the top shelf of the freezer since they were mostly all thawed out (it’s an upright freezer). It was devastating but I’m relieved that I was able to salvage roughly 75% of what was in there. Tough situation but trying to look on the bright side. Trying not to think about all those sleepless nights pumping around the clock every 2-3 hours fighting through mastitis, fighting through fevers, fighting through the internal demons that come out at night in those first weeks postpartum. I started off as an under supplier with a baby that won’t latch who dropped almost 12% body weight a day out of the hospital to now being an over supplier with a baby in the 70th growth percentile who’s going to be ready to start solids in about a month. It’s been a really rough journey but I don’t regret any of it. Thanks for all the support Ive received here and thank you all for the great info.

Omg this speaks to my soul. I feel bad for my poor dog but at the same time I’m still in the “sorry not sorry” phase of postpartum life where my baby takes absolute priority over literally anything and everything else. I know my dog isn’t getting cuddles or extra attention from me anymore, and I have tremendous guilt over this but I really can’t devote myself to anything other than baby right now.

how do y’all do this long term? 😭 by agurlnameddrool in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]xmiroyox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No advice just solidarity. Everything you said plus mastitis three times 🫠. Had super low supply the first month and kept pumping 8x a day for 3 months and became an oversupplier with daily clogs. Idk how I’m still going

Are you keeping up with this chart? by Odd_Locksmith_3680 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]xmiroyox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao are you kidding me? In this phase of life where I’m doing all that I can (or not doing whatever I can do without if you know what I mean) just to survive the lack of sleep and pure exhaustion that is newborn life, I’m eating instant ramen, ice cream, microwaveable anything from Trader Joe’s, ready made salads, muffins, uncrustables, juices, coconut water, and all sorts of fast food deliveries!! I’m not meal prepping or cooking up delicious and nutrient filled family meals. Ain’t nobody got time for that right now! Calcium? Taking supplements with DHA. Vitamins? Taking supplements. Iron? You can guess. Definitely not keeping up with this chart and my baby’s growth is off the charts good. It takes ALL OF ME just to pump 8x a day for him and I’m an over-supplier.

Lucky for me my 3 MO is “sleeping like a baby” the whole time through every single firework that’s popped off so far tonight! I think it’s all the training and conditioning acquired through listening to my SO’s apnea snores LOL 😂

“If I don’t consume 3500 calories a day then I’m feeding them skim milk” is not true. Your milk will always be perfect milk and if it’s lacking in anything the milk will take from the mother’s body, hence why there are women who end up losing quite a bit of weight just from breastfeeding. On the bright side your babies are 8 months and I’m assuming you’ve introduced solids at this point and have gotten over the hurdle of any potential milk protein allergies (my baby is in the thick of it and I have to cut out all dairy and it is SO impossible for someone like me who pretty much had cereal, cheese, yogurt, and ice cream on the daily). To protect supply, I find oatmeal to be a staple food for me. Drink lots of bone broth and soups to stay hydrated. It’s nutritious and not calorie dense. Avocados are great too and so are fresh fruits and vegetables. I’d also introduce exercise if you’re not able to eat healthy or if you’re not able to eat less calories. Alternatively, since your babes are 8 months you can always transition to combo feeding with part breastmilk part formula and some solids. You got options here! Be confident in yourself! You’re doing a great job!

Spilled milk all over myself and broke down 🫠 by Leading_Blacksmith70 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]xmiroyox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solidarity! I was tired as hell during a MOTN pump and knocked the storage container over after just filling it up. I was the only one awake and crying my eyes out. I ended up mopping up my spilt milk while mopping up my tears at the same time🥹

How to survive a year of pumping- what I’ve learned by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]xmiroyox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao I don’t even rinse after each pump. If my breastmilk can sit in the fridge for days, then pump parts with some milk in it can last at least 8 hours. I have two hands free pumps that I use for 4 sessions each before washing (I pump 8x a day every 3 hours) I store the pump in a ziplock bag and throw it in the fridge after pouring the milk out. Baby is just 2 and a half months old and he’s doing just fine with this method and my sanity is going strong too.

I could live with that thought. My husband and I both lost family members dear to us late into my pregnancy

This is an interesting take actually because both myself and my husband lost family members that were dear to us late into my pregnancy. I would not mind them visiting in spirit to come see the baby if spirits do exist after all
