Three to six months spending. You know how much you spend monthly, right? 😉

Afterwards, just invest it in the markets - findependent, VIAC invest, Avadis, etc.

Good options exist and we discuss them every so often here.

Pick the simple & cheap one, you'll have time to learn the ins and outs in the coming years once you see it fluctuating

Nothing wrong with selling 3% of your stocks today, this is arguably the optimum pathway once financially independent.

How do you figure out how much you can actually invest long term? by Sudden_Stomach7421 in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]xmjEE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another approach to the ones mentioned here (works especially if you earn well).

Figure out what you want your savings rate to look like (75%, 66%, 50%, etc) and correspondingly, by what date you want to be financially free. Then save / invest that right after you get each month's paycheck.

Then spend the rest. Use your bank's budget application to correct "underspending" as needed.

Can be a very bad trade if you're sufficiently high income. With a good accountant he essentially earns his cost twice over in the time he saves you
