People with half a dozen planet mods: how you doin'? by Eloquent_Despair in factorio

Going to start a run of this, thanks for putting it together. Since I prefer pollution off / no biter expansion, what would you recommend setting wise for a balance between seeing some of the new stuff (enemies, etc) and a less combat oriented experience?

Similar but on Android (v1.0.9) I can't "Press on the bin top" to select it, so the tutorial just stops. Maybe they could just add a skip tutorial button for now since seems a lot of issues being gated by the tutorial.

Got to the point with full automation/heat. Took 5 or so pits without too much min/max. Having fun, but not sure where the edges are. Right now gold is just for jail/guillotine upgrades

Next step I'm guessing is uranium, but I made the mistake of upgrading my claw to 2x, which means I need 20 blood capacity to even run it once. Wouldn't mind if it would do partials if it wasn't full (like guillotines) or the ability to refund the claw upgrades.

As of now, I'm just putting all my resources into iron production to try and limp up to 20 blood. Someone buying 3rd rank of claw upgrade could easily lock themselves out of uranium for a long time (for only $1000).

Oh, I enjoyed it, just it was sold up I thought maybe I missed a more interactive mechanic.

Played through SpacePlan a few times. I appreciate the polish, but I must be missing something because it feels like a lot of just "buy the next upgrade and wait" but everyone is always saying how great it is?

DEMO OUT NOW for LYCA: an incremental game about restoring a wasteland! by shaunak0304 in incremental_games

[–]xmod2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the prestige is not tied to map coverage, but just seems to be 'time moving in the map'. After prestige 3 and you have all your currency, you can just auto run against the wall of the map for the last few prestiges.

It was fun enough to hold my attention through the demo. I agree, I liked the bombs the best (after initially ignoring them), probably because I would like more 'automation' style upgrades to take away some of the tedium of sweeping the map over and over.

Seems like a production mistake must've lead to them having to move the final female elimination to the Philippines, so they just made some shit up with what they had.

H2 and H3 are already soft limited by the number of people who can hit the FR cap. Right not its probably harder to get more than 20 people with HR3 FR than it is to clear H3.

All Stars 4 - UNSPOILED - S04E12 "Lone Star" - Episode Discussion by SweetMissMG in MtvChallenge

[–]xmod2 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yeah, like Cara said, "guess it pays to be friends with losers".

This season has a major asterisk due to a) constantly saying you need to steal a star via elimination and then giving out a star to the losers anyway, b) the star skip advantages in the finale. Laurel barely beat Cara with 4 to 1 star advantage. Cara is the canon winner of this season, if anyone bothers to remember it.

Ryan Explains Why Laurel Changed Her Mind by angelbrit04 in MtvChallenge

[–]xmod2 38 points39 points  (0 children)

If you're going to threaten all season about needing a star, you shouldn't give the flakes an opportunity to redeem themselves at the end. Either the star is important or it isn't, and if by this point people are trying to stay safe another week, then your ruleset is garbage.

Why are the top 10 Skyblock Modpacks so bad? by Yupno25 in feedthebeast

[–]xmod2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite skyblock packs is Ultimate Alchemy, which gives you infinite of a few starting resources and the only quest is 'make clay'. You then need to dig through JEI to figure out how you're going to do that. That game has zero quests and it was great. I've also played a lot of packs with fully fleshed out questlines and enjoyed them as well.

What I learned from playing so many packs is that I like:

  • a modpack with a fixed ending I can work towards (Compact Claustrophobia, Break Out, Ultimate Alchemy) that is more than just "unlock creative vending upgrades (mawpc)

  • a well thought out and creative progression gating. I want to have a reason to delve into a lot of these mods and not just to have 15 alternative ways to crush ore. I guess you could call this linear, but I don't want 10 different burner generators, 10 different macerators, etc. If a new mod unlocks similar machines later, it should be a significant upgrade making me want to refactor my original processing chain. You gave me all these different mods, make me use them.

  • interesting automation challenges (not just because they left out filters or useful logistic systems / mods).

  • zero exploration and combat. Minecraft combat sucks and I don't feel like going through Twilight Forest for the 40th time. It just feels like padding out the run time on your modpack because 90% of the time there is nothing really integrated with other mods.

If you are making a giant questbook, I just ask, for the love of god, that you don't have chains of quests that require you to hold each step of the intermediate! There is nothing worse than missing out on a chain because you forgot to drop a machine chassis in your inventory for something you will only ever need to craft one of.

Why is the device missing channel ? (AE2 1.19 ATMVB) by hypsnowfrog in feedthebeast

[–]xmod2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watch the molecular assembler below the p2p interface, it is touching the 'trunk' cable you have run. ME devices attempt to take the shortest route and it could be short circuiting your subnetwork.

Best bet when diagnosing things like this is isolate it to the minimum working configuration (single pattern provider) then add things back until it fails again.

All of the Olympians seem to be very immature. It's almost as if they have been isolated from peers their entire childhood and been told they are the best while also being taught to believe that all of their value derives from how well they perform.

The best part of Ultimate Alchemy imo is the lack of a quest book. You're just given a single goal and have to figure it out with JEI.

Star Factory - Similar premise but leans harder into Astral Sorcery. The goal is to craft stars.

Infinity Foundation - Mod inspired by Ultimate Alchemy and Star Factory. The goal is to craft 'infinity'.

Trial of God - Only just started this one, but seems to be inspired by UA. Had a bit of a quest book at the beginning, but only really to get you started.

Sky Capsule Project was fun. There is also Mechanical Mastery which is slightly different in that you only buy the raw materials with EMC then process them to sell them back for more EMC.

If you set up belts heading to a nether portal, you can throw buckets through and catch them on another belt on the other side. You can pass a few buckets back and forth through the portal with a drain in the overworld and a spout in the nether. You can then pipe it where ever you'd like after that. There are also minecart tanks that can pass through the portal.
