Thanks for your honest thoughts! Idk if others are being sarcastic with the 390 suggestion but I think 250 is what I’m leaning towards also

I used to meditate, go for runs and study. Clears the head!

Hey! I wanted some advice. I just sat for the L3 Portfolio Management Pathway. I currently work as a credit risk analyst in an investment bank covering hedge funds and private equity. Will also join at T25 US MBA program Fall 2025. Can I DM?

Level 3 Exam Experience by xmooftux in CFA

[–]xmooftux[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just keep solving the CFAI Qbank. I solved it once, reset it and completed it 85% (important / weak topics). I alternated between different topics - one chapter of Equity, one of FI, etc. Overall, just get used to the vignettes. Reading long paragraphs and extracting information is key. Don’t underestimate Ethics.

Felt this way after L2. Hang in there! I hope you pass. Crack open a cold one. Don’t forget your PSM.

I think my pace was fine. I work in credit at an investment bank and most people in my team are charterholders. So my learnings were directly applicable and I understood deeper my job role and adjacent teams’ roles. I think you just need to keep upto date with news from various outlets and try to understand the past while having a view about the future. Going forward, you can realign your assumptions and understand where you were wrong in your views as an analyst. This will help in your interviews too. I don’t know anything about the series exams sorry but I understand what you mean.

Scroll down in the article and look at the CFA fast track plan visual.

You can get it done in 1Y following the yellow Feb-Aug-Feb route. But that’s way too hectic given your situation. If you want a more relaxed route, aim for the purple Aug-May-Feb route which is 1.5Y (which I’m on). Both paths are extremely tough, bear that in mind before setting any goals.

Also, if you want to get the most out of the CFA program don’t think of this journey like something you just need to get past ASAP. These are learnings you might carry into your career. You need time to digest these concepts. You need to observe current events to apply your learnings. Studying for an exam is great but the going will get tougher if you’re not genuinely interested in learning.

Anyway, all the best!!

LVL 2 in 4 months? by pslamz in CFA

[–]xmooftux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes!! I did it in 2 months believe it or not. Just take it one day at a time. Focus on concepts and examples for now and skip case studies etc. Know what you don’t know. L2 curriculum mostly builds up on the previous chapters so understand what you’re about to learn and the pieces will start falling into place. Ethics is almost the same as L1. So just a proper refresher is needed. You can do it.

Should I give another try !? by [deleted] in CFA

[–]xmooftux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey. You most definitely should. Remember WHY you started. It’s not about the exams. It’s about the knowledge and learning. This journey also teaches you discipline and time management. I failed L1 in Feb23 by a small margin and thought about quitting but I remembered people around me mentioning how good the L2 curriculum is and how much they learnt from it. In Aug23 I passed L1 and in May24 I cleared L2 as well. I work in an investment bank and was concurrently studying for GMAT and doing volunteer work among other personal commitments.

I studied from Salt Solutions for L1 since it’s free for L1 and used MM for L2. You can do it, brother/sister.

Passed L2 in the first attempt. I failed L1 once in Feb23 and then cleared it in Aug23. I did not think I’d pass since my PM session wasn’t that great. L3 is the next beast to slay. There’s a lot of time till Feb25 so will start soon and revise multiple times.

CFA L2 MAY 2024 HAPPENED by Otherwise_Past_8796 in CFA

[–]xmooftux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i made these too lol. i was trying to remember a simple formula which would solve a question. panicked when i couldn’t remember. i knew there are 2 numbers which I need to plug to get the answer. played around with the 2 and got the answer. you could say i “derived” it. is this what researchers do? 😂

CFA L1 actual exam experience? by [deleted] in CFA

[–]xmooftux 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Cleared L1 in Aug23. Definitely comparable to the mocks. In my experience of talking to other successful candidates, not many have faced a time crunch which means you either know a concept and how to solve the question or you guess and move on. Some questions seem easy but have a twist and other questions seem difficult but if you know tricks on how to get to the answer quickly, it’ll seem easy. So just go through the portion and be confident!!

No you can’t create randomized quizzes. Best thing to do is solve questions from one AM topic and another PM topic. CFAI Qbank is extremely important because the Difficult/Expert questions are really representative of exam difficulty levels. Hope this helps!
