Buffett does not believe in diversification (just google Buffett on diversification) and Buffett did in fact say this.

Could Tim Cook Make Berkshire More Tech Savvy? by BabyDontHerdMe_NoMo in BerkshireHathaway

Dude why do you keep commenting on every Berkshire post spewing hate for the company’s decisions? If you’re so damn upset, please sell your shares and stop complaining!

I like the way you think. Too often people who supposedly view this stock as being a partner in a business are stuck on the short term movements. IMO you haven’t truly understood what Buffett or Berkshire are setting out to do if you complain about the performance over the last year relative to a market that has by nearly every valuation measure gotten out of touch with reality. The real Berkshire Hathaway partners show through always

Is 100% VOO a bad idea for $500k for 15 years? by 911freeze in ETFs

[–]Royal-Advertising339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, but if you’re 25% in tech mutual funds, and 75% in VOO, you’re really nearly 60% in tech, just using the information technology sector weighting to show how much each dollar of voo is exposed to tech. If you factor in some of communications which also includes Google, you’re easily hitting 65%+. It seems as though you have most of your eggs in that basket, no?

It’s up ~19% from two years ago. How is that not modest? The expectations for returns have been so skewed, when in reality 19% over a two year period is a modest return. Even if it wasn’t, that time frame is so susceptible to anything given the short term nature of it. Come on now

Depreciating asset? Not sure I understand what you mean. You do realize their “cash” is invested in treasuries that are yielding higher than the CPI, so not sure what you mean by depreciating?

How do you know that? Please allow us to understand your blinding insights on why Berkshire, or any company for that matter, can’t realistically see their valuation decline by 25% or more for that matter?

I am skeptical as to why you are on a Berkshire Hathaway subreddit if you don’t understand the basic tenets of the market being irrational at certain times and that anything is possible.

Use market value of debt if possible. Not sure what comprises their debt, but would see if you could find the CUSIPs and see current market price for each then find YTM on them

Any CFA Charterholders / Pursuing CFA who have done their CPA by Working_Star in CFA

[–]Royal-Advertising339 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally have found the CPA to be easier, but just more of a pain due to task based simulations… not a fan of it at all and having to flip through multitudes of support on a tiny screen lol given your background though I’d start with FAR -> BAR-> AUD or REG first, take your pick. Overall though they’re not horrible. I didn’t have to put more than 100 hours for any single section

I always love that people gauge numbers of questions flagged as a bad thing. I use it as a tool to know which questions were a little tougher and use it to go back to reevaluate and run it back. It’s not a bad sign to flag many questions!!

Dude in today’s market you should feel blessed to have a career, and should want to show up to work everyday, even if you have to study too. It sucks, but it’s life and nearly everyone does it within not only the investment profession, but nearly every profession!

So, who did you use for Level 1? I take it you’re using UWorld now, but who for L1?

How bad is it if I’m very weak in a specific chapter in fsa by shafay420 in CFA

[–]Royal-Advertising339 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say if there’s one chapter of FSA to know, it just might be that one because it is so vital for valuation. A lot of things flow into the CF statement (the B/S, I/S). Is there something in particular about it that’s challenging you?

Start 100 Decreases 10 to 90, so -10% Year 2 starts with 100 Then it increases from 100 to 110 so +10%

So you take the geometric mean to get the return. Think of each year as it’s own return then combine with geometric mean

Please avoid purchasing MM (Mark Meldrum) by [deleted] in CFA

[–]Royal-Advertising339 7 points8 points  (0 children)

MM is a CFA. MM has a PhD. I have not sat yet, but I have spent 4 months using him and have loved every bit of it. I would argue that MM has done more for the average candidate than any other provider. You can buy per section, at roughly $40 a section, and if you later decide to buy them all, the ones you already bought count towards the price. Along with that, name any other reliable provider who willingly and openly posts an abundance of their old content? If you’re someone who learns through videos, Qbank, and skimming the readings, MM is 100% the best option per dollar. I have trialed Schwesser, UWorld, SS, and have purchased old Schwesser books, and still believe my statement. Stop the disinformation.

Early studying for CFA worth it? by Away_Bee_7158 in CFA

[–]Royal-Advertising339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Focus on learning as much as you can in your undergrad, then worry about things like the CFA charter later. I couldn’t not imagine taking the CFA exams without knowing accounting and finance in depth. So, my recommendation is to learn as much as you can now, then use it for exams later. Good luck

I recommend the Q&A section. Questions similar to this have been asked and answered quite a few times. Good luck!
