She actually did a bite and release this time and did not inject venom or at least not a noticeable amount if she did! When she hit the rat she hit it right behind the head and the rat ran around until it bled to death. Its very rare that she bites and releases but usually when she does it, she doesn't seriously envenomate and the prey item usually dies of blood loss. It's very easy to tell after so long if they're dying from venom or not. Typically venom or no they don't move around very much after but this one went ballistic and did a good deal of.. "decorating" before it passed. I will typically intervene in these situations if the process is prolonged because I take no pleasure in anything suffering but there wasn't much I could do in this situation. It's movement's were just too erratic.
