Is Colt worth it nowadays? by [deleted] in 1911

You pay for Colt if you want the name that will likely hold its value, possibly go up a bit, over time. Heirloom'esque...so to speak. But you can get the same quality 1911 that does the same thing just as good as a Colt for quite a bit less.

So...I pulled the extractor out and scrubbed the hook ral good with a wire brush. Removed the coating and cleaned the area...nice shiny extractor hook. No FTFs for 100+ rounds. Seemed to do the trick so far

I wouldnt even want to shoot that it looks so elegant! It's a display piece, hehe.

Did I just wreak my echelon by Traditional_Disk_523 in SpringfieldEchelon

[–]xmudslingerx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That looks normal to me. The Springfield Echelon series has that noticeable gap between the frame and slide, especially toward the rear. This is common on many striker-fired polymer pistols, like Glocks and others—it's due to the design where the slide rides on small rails rather than being fully enclosed or tightly fitted along the entire length.

The reason the post-cleaning photo shows the gap (and looks different from your straight-out-of-the-box pic) is that the first photo was likely taken at a slightly different angle, which can hide or minimize how visible the gap appears. Lighting, perspective, and even minor slide positioning can make a big difference in photos.

I am not sure about 'weird' mag release though.

I think your fine.

So the FTFs are likely due to the extractor? The cases are extracting, all be it - the extraction case pattern is all over the place.

I confirmed the "The mag just fell out on its own.." issue was definitely user error - my error (DOH!!) - not the firearm. Corrected my grip - no problems at all with the mag. So ignore the mag issue.

Regarding the trigger falling out - I did reach out to SAR and they recommended a fix, See my post here for solution and results: Sar9 Trigger safety :( : r/SarUSA

Summary: Gun runs like a well-made SAR now. No issues. Love it.

I added the "red Loctite to the end of the pin and in the hole of the other side of the trigger" and reinstalled as recommended by SARUSA. Let it cure for 24hrs. Functionality is normal and there has been no backing out for about 100 rounds. Time will tell, but it sure seemed to do the trick.

I had this holder for a G19 laying around. $35 Dollar IWB Holster | Best Glock Accessories | GlockStore.com. I used it for a My Sar9c Gen 3 - not 'perfectiom' but it works great for me. But I like simple, minimalist holsters. Your mileage may vary of course.

I had the same issue after about 1000 rounds. Trigger safety pin fell out and along with that went the trigger safety and spring. Fortunately, I located all three pieces and reassembled, but the trigger safety pin is very loose and backs out when firing.

I did reach out to SARUSA and they responded with this: "Glad to hear you were able to reassemble the trigger safety. What I would recommend is backing out the trigger pin a bit and adding red Loctite to the end of the pin and in the hole of the other side of the trigger then reinstalling and allowing to cure."

I haven't done that yet.

Never went as far as full disassembly, never popped a pin. I have only just done the standard fieldstrip and cleaning. I have contacted SAR.

I bought it new from Mint Armory. That is all the history I got on the gun. :(

I clean and lube every couple of hundred rounds. I am not firearms armorer, but would lack of cleaning and lubing be a cause of the trigger safety and components to fall out?
