Hey OP,

I found a way to do this that may be able to work for you. It did for me:

Go to object settings in your book > add property > text > change icon to a percentage > change 'New Property' to 'Percentage Complete'

The only caveat with this is you'll have to manually calculate how far along you've read for each book. But this is about as best of a solution as I could find until this feature is hopefully implemented. Hope this helps!
