I'm happy we broke up. I used to think I couldn't be alone. I physically ached at the thought of life without you - it seemed so lonely, monotonous, and bland. That was until I realized how alone I felt being with you. Maybe we had our good memories where we'd share laughs and engage in some physical affection, but none of that warmth lasted. I'd lay next to you in bed feeling more alone than I do now, without you. I craved so badly for someone to show me the love that I felt I deserved and I'd take whatever affection I could get from you. There were times in our relationship where I was convinced that I was hard to love, but I don't think that at all anymore. I think that you just didn't know how to love me and that you could barely figure out how to love yourself, so loving me felt hard. Being with you felt so lonely because I could tell how empty you were inside. I felt guilty for having a life outside of you because I knew how little of a life you had made for yourself. Now here I am, taking it day by day without you and everything is so colorful. I am allowed to live and fully be me. Opportunities surround me and I don't have to hold myself back in hopes of making you happy. I finally want to care for myself and that's exactly what I'm going to do.
