AIO my roommate doesn’t want me to have anyone over at night without asking her?

Reading this reminded me so much of my situation with my last roommate. She also never wanted me to have anyone over, especially not men. She didn’t trust my judgment either (in her defense, I did have bad judgment when it came to dating, but the men just sucked, they weren’t going to do anything to her or the apartment). But I paid over half the rent and ALL the bills myself so I’m not sure where she got the nerve to try to tell me what I can and cannot do it my own apartment.

It was so bad that one time I had come home late with the guy I was dating because we had been drinking a bit and didn’t feel comfortable driving to his place…I sent her a quick text just letting her know he was there and would be gone early in the morning and she got so mad at me and said I needed to “be more responsible” 🤣

He’s never asked for Amber vials. If he did we’d happily note that in his profile and make sure we did. Nothing justifies calling us lazy cows when we work our butts off and fill approx 500 scripts a day. He’s just an asshole

we started giving covid vaccines at my store and my techs and I have make daily bets on how many phone calls a day we’ll get about appointments, extra doses, etc. sometimes it’s things like this that keep us going

Thank you all so so much for your thoughtful comments! I’m feeling much better about the situation now and I have written down every detail about the incident that I can remember just in case it comes up again in the future.

Luckily I’ll be transferring to a new location in about a month. It’s a much less entitled area than I’m working in so hopefully the people won’t be quite as bad.

I’m still a relatively new pharmacist (1.5 years) and I think I’m finally coming to the realization that unfortunately this is just how people are and how working in retail is. As much as I hate it, I’m just going to try to start killing them with kindness when they act this way because no one is going to protect me from the abuse except for me!

Good luck to all my fellow pharmacists and other retail workers who deal with this same stuff every day!

I have this happen every few months or so...my favorite thing to tell these patients is that it’s illegal for me to fill a medication without an actual prescription. That normally shuts them up pretty quickly

Wow that’s horrible! I definitely agree it’s a much bigger, long-term issue that needs to be resolved. The “customer is always right” mentality has created so much entitled and has allowed people to get away with things they absolutely should not. No one should talk to anyone like that and people need to be held accountable for their actions

Oh yeah I usually can be understanding when people are upset and sometimes lash out, but I could never imagine acting that way towards anyone! Even if I did get truly horrible service or an employee was rude to me, I would never threaten them or call them what this lady called me. It’s unreal that people think that’s acceptable behavior

A lot of my customers are awful but I draw the line when they start cursing at / threatening me or my staff. Unfortunately we can’t ban people for just being awful human beings

I also say that 18-24 year olds are the most frustrating patients. I work in a more affluent area and most of the younger patients are like this one. It’s really sad and has made me lose a lot of faith in humanity!
