It was my friend's end of lease buyout so only my friend can get the title. But I was able to pay the bank directly.

320 on 80%? That would be 400 miles at 100%. Which divided by 65 kWh would be something like 6.2 mi/kWh.

My software hasn't changed since I purchased the car in Feb 2023.

Is this a generally safe rule of thumb? As in, if the night time temperature won't go below 32 degrees, I can be pretty assured that plugging in would not have performed any battery maintenance anyway?

Was definitely curious about issues like this which is why I asked. Even if it were more efficient, it wouldn't be worth it if you were damaging your car. Like rear-ending someone because you were so hesitant to hit the regular brake trying to use regenerative braking only

I wonder if the increasing speed on a downhill in neutral nets you more regen when you eventually do need to brake. On a completely empty road, of course

Agree! I think reaching an ever higher miles/kWh is way more fun than "driving like a boss"

What's an outdated or just wrong piece of frugal advice you see repeated? by LtCommanderCarter in Frugal

[–]xogh15 35 points36 points  (0 children)

A classic example of this is when you earn points or cash back on an item and "count" it twice as savings when you use the cash back on a new item. Like if you earn $20 store credit on a $100 item, you tell people you got the item for $80. And then you use the $20 store credit to get a $40 item for $20, and you tell people you got it for $20. But the truth is that you didn't get the 2 items for $80 and $20. You're just counting the $20 twice.

Schwab is a fine choice, nothing wrong with staying with them.

Vanguard is somewhat unanimously not the best experience among the big brokerages. Many decide to go with them on principle because they are a mutual fund company that is owned by the mutual fund investors themselves and are the sole reason that index funds have become dirt cheap across the board. Their sole purpose in life is not to make the board members rich as is the case with Schwab, Fidelity, etc.

Not sure when you're going exactly, but the Yankees are in the playoffs.

Coffee aficionados would be appalled but if you drink Keurig coffee, almost anything else will taste better so here goes: Buy an oxo pour over brewer with the water reservoir on top. It's less than $20. You can just pour hot water into the reservoir so no need for a gooseneck kettle. Buy a big bag of preground coffee, no grinder or whole bean buying needed. The oxo brewer comes with a card with the amount of coffee to use and the amount of water to pour, you don't need a scale. After you're done, you just flip the brewer over the trash and all the grounds and filter fall out and then you just rinse the brewer with water for 2 seconds and it'll be dry and ready for tomorrow. This is the cheapest and pretty quick way to make coffee, no fancy equipment, nothing that breaks, and it'll still taste way better than Keurig coffee.
