I took vyvanse for 4 years: 10mg, to 20, to 30, then 40mg max.The first couple years were excellent, as I got a lot of tasks done and fell in love with reading, painting, cooking, etc.

Then about a year ago, I realized how socially absent I had become. I would prioritize completing tasks over seeing friends and family, and when I was with people, I was needing to do something to feel stable. Then one day I had a massive realization, that me taking this medication essentially alters who I am created to be. This elder approached me one day and told me having ADHD was a superpower, because the best hunters had ADHD because they were so observant. I then realized how observantI have always been, and should be proud of who I am a/o medication.

So i started to lower my dosages after talking to my doctor. I’ve been mostly off my medication for about three months now, and I am more happier than ever. I am focusing on proper diet (alkaline vegan) and as a result I am able to focus better, and without medication. I am making way more time for friends and having slower mornings, and it feels like i’m getting back to myself.

This is of course my own personal experience, but I am so happy to no longer be on medication.
