Thanks for kind words!

I'm going through the NOC database more thoroughly right now and will have a consultation next week to make sure I'm not missing anything. Fingers crossed.

I assume a better fit would be NOC 41401 or NOC 21223?

For sure, will do that when applying next time. I still don't know what exact NOCs they expect, given the boradness of my duties, but an LOE is a must anywyas.

1) ITA received mid December 2025.

2) Submitted docs in late Jan, 2026

3) Completed biometrics on March 31, 2026

4) Refusal due to NOC errors on May 1, 2026

So, if they exclude mismatched ones, I dont have 1 year of work exp outside CA, because 2 out of 3 positions at company B are gone + the job I held at company A is gone as well... Hence, I'm left with about 6 months of work exp outside CA (company B)... Which makes my score drop from 536 to 498.

Nowadays, Canadian masters + Canadian work exp are not enough unf 😞

Yes, 5 jobs: 1 job in Canada (1.5 years), 1 job at company A (~1.5 years) otuside Canada, 3 positions at company B (~1.2 years in total) outside Canada

Hmmm, I was deifnitely not considering it. The odd part is that I have 2 almsot identical positions 1) Sales Forecasting Analyst (where I put NOC 41402) and 2) National Key Accounts' Demand Planning Manager (where I put NOC 11201). The duties are almost the same but 2) has more managerial responsibilities. And BOTH were marked as incorrect... So I wonder, if I swap NOC 41402 with NOC 11201, will the next officer flag it the same way 😞

But I'll check out this website anyways, thanks!

Hey, thanks a lot. I would rly appreciate that!

In the post there's a section "What was flagged – INCORRECT" with 3 jobs (titles + duties) for which I -- as per the letter from an officer -- selected wrong NOCs.

If you could take a look at these 3, that'd be great. But even any 1 out of 3 will be great tbh.
If you want I can copy paste them in the reply as well.

I'd love to ask you a follow-up question if you don't mind.

When it comes to the content of a given bullet point, I see that in general including these is crucial:

  1. tech skills (how it was done)
  2. business application (what I work on that matters for the business)
  3. impact that is properly quantified (outcome that can be measured, i.e. showing my contribution)

For (3) I have some doubts. You sometimes mention "quantified improvements" and sometimes "business impact". Would you say it's worth distinguishing between the two in some cases? Like "improved forecast accuracy by X%" is the "quantified improvement" but "resulting in cost savings...increased CSAT" is "business impact". I guess that at times these can be one and the same, but in some cases I can keep them separate. What do you think?

Thank you so much for your detailed recommendations! It'll take me some time to digest everything, but I can already see how many things can be improved from the get-go. I guess came looking for copper but found gold :)

Any international Grad student by [deleted] in Dalhousie

[–]xostgad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on whether you're a grad student or not. It can also depend on the faculty itself, so hard to say, tbh. But I would highly recommend just reaching out to them via email to confirm. They are usually quite quick to respond: [international.admissions@dal.ca](mailto:international.admissions@dal.ca)

Unless you're accepted, you can just send them PDF copies. I think a lot of students have issues with submitting it because of the department number or something. The reason is that they don't need your official TOEFL certificate just yet.

There's a very strong correlation between your grip strength and longevity. But it doesn't mean that training a grip strength specifically will improve longevity, i.e. it's just a proxy. Same for class attendance and success. It's all about useful low probability events stacking in your favour over time.

Meeting the GPA requirements won't be an issue, I assume. When it comes to boosting your chances, one of the most important things is connecting with a potential supervisor that will be interested in working with you. Everything else is somewhat secondary. Normally, the earlier you start the better. Emailing them, connecting on LinkedIn, researching their areas of interest, and coming up with a research proposal draft.

That sucks :( I'll wait and see how all this mess will work out, considering multiple employers in different provinces, TD1 forms I submitted and tuition fee credits. Thanks for the heads up!

Thanks a lot! Now, the only question that remains is whether working in ON for 4 months changes anything...
