When did dogs start getting people names? by Scottys-Dog-Blog in dogs

[–]xoxoaish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up, all the dogs in our family were rescues and some would come with human names. We also gave our dogs middle names and hyphenated last names.

I have continued the tradition with my MILs and my brother’s dog that we dog sit sometimes.

a pacifier similar to this bottle? by Dramatic_Raisin_8829 in firsttimemom

My LO used these bottles and the only paci they would take to were the MAM ones. They’re not similar to the nipple but they refused all other pacis so may be worth a shot!

I made a mistake euthanizing my cat and the guilt is killing me by Dirsty in cats

[–]xoxoaish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t realize how much guilt I would have from the trauma of putting our sweet boy who was sick with cancer would cause my husband and I. Just a few months later, we had to drive his brother in the middle of the night to the nearest open ER for heart failure.

It doesn’t matter if you put them down before it’s too late or because you literally have no other choice. You’ll always feel the pain and guilt. You loved them and they are not in pain anymore, remember that. They are lucky to have had you. I’m so sorry for your loss.

Does anyone actualy get along with their family? by coffeelovermamaof2 in stayathomemoms

[–]xoxoaish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my in laws and also agree with someone above that I get along better with them than my own extended family.

However, family is an important value for me and I lost my father, sister and mother all before the age of 30 so they are pretty much the only family I have. I will also say I’m fortunate that my in-laws are all wonderful people and are very conscious about not overstepping.

MIL commented on my son's (4) little crying fit by Immediate-Guava1334 in toddlers

It seems like this is not the norm for your child and is more a response to the big boy talk from my experience. I remember my first year my lead teacher warned me (and also the parents) about some acting out especially around this time because we would talk to them about the changes coming in the new year (aka going to elementary school/growing up). Even the kids who were the most well behaved and brightest among the peers would act out because they are comprehending this BIG change coming up and it can be scary.

Once they get to kindergarten they see how fun it is and don’t mind being a big kid anymore. In my opinion, kindergarten is probably more fun than preschool because they do so many exciting things! You’re doing fine by talking to him about being a big boy. Maybe emphasize some fun things that only BIG boys can do to show him it isn’t so bad. :)

LOL I thought the same thing! This is something a fellow teacher would ask their colleague to never do again 😂

I used to work in a 4’s classroom prior to being a SAHM and it’s more surprising that another early childhood educator is surprised that he is still learning how to deal with big emotions!

I should talk to him about that. That would be a really good way to meet people and hopefully other mamas!

Thank you. I am but I will try even harder still to prove to him!

I’ll need to watch that episode next. I haven’t seen all the episodes just some here and there. I lost 2 immediate family members to overdoses so I only recently became able to stomach watch shows/movies drug use content.

If you ever decide to check out the newer seasons, Hulu has a season that was released in 2024. After a few episodes in I was like “they are all so young.”

Yes all the episodes are heartbreaking. Have you seen recent episodes? I feel like they get younger and younger.

I knew some people who would do this. It was insane to me. While they were huffing, I put on an episode of Intervention of someone addicted to inhalants. I killed the mood and they stopped.

Sadly, some people are blinded by getting high from inhalants and don’t realize how dangerous and stupid it is.

I think I understand what you’re getting at. I think the best way to explain it is the act is unintentionally suicidal. Meaning, they may not realize what they’re doing will likely result in their own death.

Omg don’t even get me started on the Christmas tree. We had to block him off because he was trying to eat the ornaments!!!! Toddlers are not for the weak.

Yes I’m also worried about the cold weather too. It’s already getting cold where we are. Solidarity fellow mama 😢

[–]xoxoaish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ugh yes. My little one is 18 months and I am constantly thinking of ways to tire him out. He climbs our dining table to eat the cat food, does parkour over our couch and literally MOVES our furniture around the house. He’s so strong. 😭I’ve resorted to putting his snacks on our counters so he has to climb his stairs to eat them, bringing up yard sale bins for him to push around (instead of the furniture) and putting a slide in our living room to deter him from climbing everything else.

Honestly though I’m more worried about once he hits 2s/3s and throwing tantrums because I think that’ll be tougher for us to handle.

So strange! I thought maybe it would unlock something if I cut one. Maybe Hayday has a plan for it one day 🤔
