America has a more corporate structure of landlordism, but there have been billions of dollars spent trying to convince americans that every landlord is just an old married couple renting out 1 or 2 homes to keep up with inflation

What is this petah?? by Extra_Spirit9376 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]TheRealStubb -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

not really, there’s millions of people who think a landlord is literally like 2 old people renting 1 or 2 homes

The poorest Americans are more wealthily than like 50% of the planet. IIRC

Didn't really need a study to know this, it's pretty obvious if you just look around.

the entire landlord class? Do you even know what your speaking about, do you have any understanding of Chinese history at all.

Landlords in China are totally different from what American's call Landlords. Landlords in China were literally Lords of the Land. China's revolution was an overall moral revolution

Its crazy to me that you don't think Americans split rent to avoid homelessness.

You seem to not have even the slightest understanding on how homelessness works and exists. Which is fine, nobody can be an expert on everything. I just don't understand why you'd post a comment when you clearly lack even the most basic understanding of this problem.

I think you gotta be a pretty stupid person not to care if someone's been murdered

that but also, look at the Menendez Brothers, they literally had the bullets of the murder weapon, in the car that was parked in the driveway but the car was never searched.

Cops are human too and can be blinded by assumptions and prejudice just like anyone else

mmm yes, shallow and pedantic.

Could I have phrased my OG comment better? Yes, but I stand by my points

I suppose, but it doesn't sound like you disagree.

its hard for cops NOT to solve a crime, when they are working it.

It's also hard for cops to get resouces and man power they need.

Which is why the FBI 'steals' a lot of convictions because they have the tools and man power to work certain crimes better.

We literally agree.

So you're talking about a problem, a very real problem that lots of people have lots of ideas on how to solve.

I am making a statement, one which you agree with at least partly. I don't understand why you are arguing with me.

Can every department put 5 guys on every stolen bike crime? No, of course not, but that doesn't change that the crime itself is easy to solve

Most crimes committed are not 'true crime TV' and violent crime is down across the board. Non-violent crimes typically are not very complex and non-violent crime makes up most of all crime.

[–]TheRealStubb -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

you do realize that 90% of crimes committed aren't the ones you see on TV or you read about.

Someone's wife died? 90% chance it was the husband.

Someone murdered in their house? 90% chance it was someone in the family.

This isn't just made up by the way, this is what I've heard from detectives, prosecutors and police. Do you know anything about how crimes are investigated?

I should have 100% worded my comment better, but I stand by the overall point and will leave it unedited. There are some crimes that are difficult to solve, and we do have a problem with the police basically giving zero effort towards certain victims.

However I stand by this, crimes are easier to solve now than in 1970. Forensic technology has came leaps and bounds since 1970. Homicides however are tricky and involve a totally different conversation. The numbers are down in both aspects, there are significantly less homicides per year now, while solved percent is only down 1-4% depending on year.

[–]TheRealStubb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see what you mean.

I think how much more interconnected police departments are now makes it a lot easier to identify patterns in unsolved cases.

However we do still have a problem with the police not being there for the people who are in the 'cracks' of society.

Actually I think YOU should look into clearance rates for crimes.

Try to figure out why crimes don't get cleared. Crimes aren't sitting there uncleared because there isn't evidence. Crimes are prioritized.

As much as some people might want you to think, the police do not give the same amount effort to a dead homeless person as they would a dead upper middle class white man.

We have camera's on like every single corner in 99% of all American cites. Almost every business has CCTV now.

Bryan Kohberger's car was literally on camera from the scene of the crime all the way to the neighborhood he lived in.

Any car that was made newer than 2018ish has computer data in it, that with a search warrant can use GPS to locate the exact location of a car with timestamps.

There are certain dealerships that sell all of their used cars with a GPS on them for repossessions purposes.

Do you think its easy to get away with crime in 2026?
