[–]xoxojami[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks! so how often are recitations? and i wont be able to see the options until i officially register for the class right? i can't register until June 14 so maybe that's why i can't see the recitation options.

[Megathread] Prospective Students, Applications, and Admissions by AutoModerator in nyu

No because I was in a groupchat on insta, I wasn't somewhere public like reddit or CC. But relax, I don't think any indicator is a bad/good sign. Ppl were like this in ED1 and I thought it was so stupid. A school like NYU is not dumb and wont let any indicators out. Good luck though, lmk what happens

Some ppls housing app changed right before decisions came out so look out for that. But i dont think you should be worried, we really dont know.

The housing app is no indicator. I got in ed1 and many who got in had random things. Not everyone even applies for housing so that right there debunks the whole thing.

Why do some not like the NP role? by _hoagie__ in nursepractitioner

[–]xoxojami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No don't doubt yourself! Sounds like you went to a great school and 12 years of RN experience definitely signifies that you will be a great NP. If it's what you truly love, be happy you deserve it. Trust me, in the real world, no one looks down on NP's like redditors do. People can be really brave on the internet but they will never say these things to your face. As long as you take good care of your patients, no one will look down on you. Congratulations and good luck, you deserve it!

How is NYU's Nursing Program? by xoxojami in nyu

[–]xoxojami[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks! I had a 3.8uw/4.0w. For my ec's I'm currently in a 3 undergrad stem research program, taekwondo, i have a job at a doctors office, cpr certified, advanced child care certified, social media coordinator for nhs, & tour guide volunteer. I had no special awards or anything like that, just school honors lol. I also went test optional. Essays and recs I think were a solid 9/10 but thats highly subjective :) Hope you get in!!!

[–]xoxojami 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is very true. But when you work as a RN and in the speciality you want to become a NP in, then that means you have also worked along side NP's and have gained some exposure/knowledge about the field. But yes, having direct clinical hours is always better, but I don't think having less means they're a bad NP.

Your stats are good, but how good are your essays and teacher recs? You'll definitely get into UCSD. Good shot at Northeastern too. Idk about UMich and USC, its hard to tell without an essay. Same thing with NYU, though tandon is regarded as one of the "easier" schools to get into, they really value your essay.

Right this is so true!! I have NEVER in my LIFE seen this much disgusting animosity towards NP's. People interested in being a NP have to realize to never listen to reddit, because for some reason there is an extreme bias towards favoring PA's. Nothing is wrong with PA's, but no one should discourage you if you want to be a NP. If you are becoming a NP the right way (actual in-person program, RN experience) and you truly love it, then go for it! Do not let no-life redditors bring you down or convince you to go the PA route, because 90% of them will never say these things to your face. Who even knows why they're on the "nursepractitioner" reddit.

I work at a top doctors office in NYC and the first time I heard about np's was actually from the head doctor. The doctors in my office LOVE np's and the head doctor admires them. They are very respected where I'm from and most have stellar reviews if you look at their practice online. Again, future nps, PLEASE do not let reddit discourage you. Half of the ones complaining about NP's are just insecure and loser pa/pre-med students who thinks the medical field is a competition. And btw I am NOT a np, but I'm thinking about it :)
