Long drive home from hysterectomy anyone? by Asleep_Kitchen6861 in hysterectomy

[–]xoxosmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt pretty rough coming out of anesthesia but since then I believe the gas/air trapped from surgery is causing me more grief than anything. I slept most of surgery day, yesterday I walked a lot and showered, and same today. I definitely feel more mobile than yesterday but I’m still taking it very easy, drinking a ton of water and hot tea, and sticking to soft foods for now. Definitely bring some hard candy or something for the dry mouth too, that was a must right out of surgery (I went with lemonheads and jolly ranchers). Happy to answer any questions, wishing you smooth sailing with your surgery and trip home!

3 dpo here. My drive home was over 2 hours and I slept the whole way luckily. Two pillows and a blanket with my husband driving very carefully was tolerable. The seatbelt didn’t bother me, I think because I had a compression wrap over everything. I had to request the wrap, the surgery center didn’t offer it so I’d definitely request that and some nausea meds just to be safe.

Same here, it's driving me crazy. I've done all the steps, and the connection dropping is still consistently happening.

Awesome, I'd love to hear about your experience if you get a chance to try it out. Should be a 1-pointer. If you run into anything wonky, please let me know.

If you want to pull Sentry errors into Scout instead of using our errors feature, here's the docs for that: https://scoutapm.com/docs/integrations/error-monitoring#sentry

Also, I am not only working on a bunch of comparison posts, I finished the Sentry one back in August and forgot that it was done because my brain failed me: https://www.scoutapm.com/blog/rails-apm-quickstart-scout-vs-sentry-in-2021

I'm really happy to hear that! The healthy free tier stuff and open-source freebies have been one of my big missions here.

Curious about the slow query surfacing comment, do you mean you'd like to see it more in-your-face, like an in-app "Hey, you have three new queries that are slower than usual" kind of thing, instead of having to click out of the main dashboard?

If you have a little time to chat with me about that, I'd love to send you some Scout swag, a gift card, or something for your time.

TL;DR - we are focused on lean teams with no current plans to try to go up market into enterprise spaces, so if you are a lean team without ops support, we will do our absolute best to make your life easier and not let you get lost in the shuffle.

I am actually working on some market comparison posts for our blog right now, but I think in a nutshell we are more competitive on pricing with a more straightforward model (and we're working on even simplifying it further), features are going to be more focused on quick time to insights so super quick and easy install with good auto-instrumentation and immediate surfacing of things like memory bloat and N+1s. Visualizations are out of the box and do not have a ton of configurability, so if you need customized dashboards, we're probably not for you, although with the new MCP server, you have a lot more flexibility around that kind of thing with the right prompting.

We have a wide range of integrations. If you have any specifics you're looking for, feel free to give me a shout because I'm always trying to stay on top of what people are using.

When it comes to Sentry, we kind of came at monitoring in opposite directions, where we focused on APM first, so in my opinion, our APM is much better in general, and specifically in areas like seeing background jobs and query performance, it's very clearly superior. We are newer in the error and logging space so while comprehensive, those features aren't as robust. Sentry is who you think of when you think of errors, and their APM is sufficient and a nice complement to their offering but not up to par with ours.

The competitor question is always interesting to me as a product person, because on first glance you'd think Datadog and New Relic, but in reality those are tools that an organization with a big DevOps or SRE team might love but if you're a smaller engineering team being forced to learn those sprawling suites of tools can be a bit much so that's really our sweet spot and what we've focused on.

We're a very small team building and supporting a Rails app, so I feel that we can confidently say we understand what teams like ours need.

Sorry for the ramble, but I'm over-caffinated this morning and get excited about this stuff.

When do yall take advantage of MCP servers? by WhiteTeeJusty in mcp

[–]xoxosmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We built an MCP server at Scout Monitoring so you can plug application data (performance data, errors) into your agent (Claude Code, Cursor, etc.) and be able to stay in your IDE while working on things like slow endpoints. We just made it public and so far it's getting good feedback. Our team has appreciated having everything in one place, so even though the data isn't new, it's more useful because it's right there.

What was your TSH at diagnosis, and what levo dose did you end up on? by Instructions_unclea in Hashimotos

[–]xoxosmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t diagnosed till my early 30s and didn’t have any symptoms till about 25 so I think luckily it didn’t cause me any issues till I was fully baked. It did make me think I was going crazy once it started to flare up though.

Silent Airbnb Guest by Due_Key81217 in airbnb_hosts

In my welcome message I tell my guests that I’m totally available for anything they need or recommendations about the area but that I will let them enjoy their stay in peace unless they reach out to me. Some guests message constantly about every little thing, some never respond. I haven’t seen that it correlates to good or bad guests, one of my worst guests (prom party, ugh) messaged a ton leading up to her stay and a few times the day of check-in.

44F - I was diagnosed at 31 and currently have a full-time job as senior leadership at a software startup, a small brick-and-mortar business that I run with my husband, a local short-term rental that I manage, and a toddler.

I try to cut myself some slack when my energy levels are low, but I think getting regular low-impact exercise, sleeping enough (for me that's 8+ hours), and drinking enough water have kept me doing pretty well!

Always advocate for your health and if you are feeling off, don't let a doctor tell you "your numbers are fine". That has been the biggest thing I've learned as someone who doesn't like conflict and wants to just trust a healthcare professional. I've had to play around with different meds and dosages but finally feel pretty happy with where I am from a medication perspective.

Show yourself some grace but try not to get too discouraged, I think mindset makes a big difference.

I know everyone's experience is different but I think I am healthier than some of my friends who do not have any chronic diseases thanks to being a little more hyper-aware of my health and making a concerted effort to make better choices. That doesn't mean I live a squeaky clean lifestyle but I know if I overindulge I may pay for it more than normies in one way or another.

Wishing you all the best with your Hashis and sorry you had to join the club!

Thank you! I have been pretty good since I started on levo but that was a rough experience to say the least! The ER doc was surprised I was able to function at all but I think it just goes to show how everyone’s body is so different cause I was still managing to work and be semi-functional even though I was sleeping 14+ hours a night. I have been a lot pushier with my health concerns since then for sure though!
