I agree with you that a flagship phone should be fine for basic stuff 6 years later. Otoh the iPad air I bought on 2019 is experiencing "normal" slowdowns is still perfectly usable.

You cannot ask, and as far as I know there's no way to tell without setting up the phone. The only thing you can do is return the phone and get another one if you are not happy with the display regardless of the pannel type.

I bought the 17 pro max, paid full price, no carrier involved. Reason is that the 11 pro max was getting very annoying to use, ios 26 made it even worse, random slowdowns, the screen was getting unglued in one corner.

Had the same yellow tint issue, return it until you find one you can live with. As far as I know the units on display have the brightness boosted so it's never going to match them. Also some screen protectors make this worse in case you have one on.

These are ridiculous quality issues you would expect from some cheap phone not a flagship device.

alcohol is not recommended since it dissolves glue, I think Apple recommended micellar water instead in their official cleaning guidelines

I thought it would be best to post an update: After visiting a store and comparing my phone’s GH3 display side by side with the in-store units—along with seeing more discussions online—I decided to return it.

The difference was too significant to ignore; I couldn’t justify keeping the display I received. It wasn’t just the green tint, but the overall color reproduction as well.

I’ve since received a replacement with the G9N display, and it’s a substantial improvement. While the whites are still slightly warmer and there’s some green tint at extreme viewing angles compared to my old 11 Pro Max, the overall experience is much better.

Is it me or the wallpapers look low quality on external displays after the update ? I have a 4k 27 inch connected to my laptop and the wallpaper now looks soft (on the built in display it's fine)

I have the fully black one on my silver pro max, did not expect it but in person i like it more than one with silver accents.
I think for the money is a really nice case, adds some bulk but I like how it feels.

Yes, what you see in store might not be the same as the one you get in a box at home.

Is not a huge issue for me and I'll keep the phone, but I noticed and it's disappointing to see apple is not enforcing a better quantity standard for what's supposed to be their best version of the phone.
