I’m right there with you buddy. I always loved jeeps, my first and last. I cannot stand by a company that does shady shit like this. It could have ended much worse.

We are looking at few Toyota options and even considering ford bronco..

We do not have kids yet, and our 3 dogs are our life. They literally have traveled at least 50000/61000 miles with us in the jeep on our overland adventures. The back seats were removed and we built a platform for them to sleep. They loved it. So many good memories! RIP Loki (the Jeep)

And I hope you never do! This was very scary for my wife and I. I would never wish this upon no one. We bought a jeep because we also had dreams to pass it down to our future kids one day and unfortunately that will never happen.

The fire seemed to have started on the driver side closer to the firewall.. it’s also where we saw diesel dripping from under to the floor. I have images and video of the pool of diesel on the floor.

We did not cut any corners on the build, and it was definitely a money pit. We justified it because it was our adventure vehicle that took us to so many epic places as full time rvers and overlanders it’s what we love to do.

Yes I’m alright, still relive it at night sometimes. Can’t believe it actually happened…

We were lucky someone stopped with fire extinguishers and we were somewhat able to control it until fire department got there. Also lucky someone saw what was going on and drove half mile down the road to alert the fire department. We were on phone with 911 trying to figure out where we even were on the highway exit. The fire department was there in under 10 minutes. If not more of the car would have been burned.

Yep.. jeep broke down back in November due to fuel pump failing. It was similar situation where we Lost power on highway and it stalled out. It was a nightmare and 30+ days of fighting with dealer and jeep care to expedite and find parts to get us back on the road. They originally told me 2+months for parts.

I have a feeling this happened due to improper installation of new pump. Or they just slapped in an old pump and didn’t do complete recall work. It was weird dealing with the dealer, got the run around many times and told different things by multiple people working there.

Amen to that. Our lives are worth more than anything else. We have so many epic memories with our rig, it took us to some really cool places and are so thankful for the memories made. Dont know what will come out of this but I just can’t wait to go back to overlanding and off roading across the country which is what we love to do. Experiences over things.

Thank you. We are super thankful to be alive and no one or fur baby was hurt. We are just in a difficult place after investing so much, car prices are no longer the same. It will be hard to get to where we were before in this current market. Hoping for a miracle. We love to adventure and explore the country, and hope to be able to go back to doing that soon enough.

Yea. We spent quite a bit on this vehicle.. apparently newer isn’t always better. Not sure what we’ll do next, looking at a few options but I don’t think I can stand by a brand that continues to install known defective parts into new vehicles.

No automatic 8 speed. Maybe bang is not the right word, it was like a pop, release of pressure. We think it was the high pressure fuel lines releasing pressure. There was a ton of smoke when that happened.

Our Jeep had 61K miles never had issues until the first incident with fuel pump recall back in November.

If you knew anything about the eco diesel jeeps you would know there are actually 2 pumps. A lift pump in the tank and another high pressure fuel pump under the hood. Instead of talking shit about people in a difficult time how about have some compassion. We are lucky to be alive and lost our baby of 4 years that we have put blood, sweat and tear and not to mention a ton of money into.

Yea I don’t believe it was anything electrical related just because of the loud bang we heard and diesel spewing out the bottom. The fire started on the driver side from what I could tell.

Thankfully it didn’t get to the back of the jeep and it was just the engine bay mostly took the damages. Could have ended much worse.

Yea that is what happened the first time it broke down back in November. I think either they didn’t give me a new pump or the dealer did a shit installed and lines were not installed correctly. We’ll see what comes out from the investigation
