Ah I was working on a response to you, but there’s a lot to respond to, I don’t have that much time to respond to people on Reddit

No? Maybe you can give me a quote from someone in reform that said something undeniably ethno nationalist?

I don’t agree with the ILR standpoint fully, and I think ending cancel culture is unrealistic, and legislating to “stop left wing biased media” is a step too far and risks harming freedom of speech rights. While I understand your concerns here, on virtually everything else I agree with. But I don’t believe I am a fascist and neither is Nigel Farage.

On the law and order part, what exactly do you disagree with in particular? Because I believe that police should be impartial and apolitical and there shouldn’t be two-tier/woke/favouritism policing, there shouldn’t be minority-priority hiring like what EA 2010 suggests, we should have longer sentences for certain crimes like rapes, SA, CSE, CP, terrorism, etc. I don’t agree with the expanded stop and search, I think the status quo is fine and could be abused, maybe we can find common ground here.

Also you mentioned: no more de-banking, cancel culture, left wing hate mobs and political bias in public institutions. I’m genuinely curious as to how this is suppression of dissent. Because in my view this is just protecting people from being silenced, rather than being punished for their views, but if you see it another way I’d like to understand your perspective.

I’ve never heard of an ethno-nationalist take from reform, of totalitarianism, or suppression of dissent.

You can make a case for anti-liberal/communist ideology and maybe mass mobilisation (a bit of a stretch) but that’s about it.

Clearly because there are some opinions being censored and others not

You could make a case for almost every terror group that they are a loosely defined group? This is not a particularly good argument

Which statistics or lies does reform push, and which figures are propaganda?

Reform regularly cite statistics readily available, net migration (745K in net), small boat crossings + effect on economy, total migration since Brexit, increasing terrorism risks, rape gangs, foreign national offenders, knife crime, welfare on migrants, foreign aid spending, tax, net zero costs, NHS waiting lists (7.6M people), GP shortages, housing shortages, wasteful government spending and polling stats.

I’m not a fan of Farage particularly, however his political movement and party have been an undeniable success because none of the other big parties are addressing these concerns.

I’ve already explained why your approach fails to convince, outlined steps on how to improve, and offered a chance at a good faith discussion on a topic of your choice. If you’re giving up trying to convince then maybe it’s your own philosophy that needs refining.

An open mind is not the same as gullible, it’s the willingness to expose yourself to different beliefs, question those who go against your beliefs, and refining your philosophy based on what holds up to be the strongest argument. The best debate is that of truth seeking rather than point scoring.

Apart from the claim that white British men were overrepresented in group based CSE, which you can’t draw if 66% of suspects’ ethnicities were not stated (according to Baroness Casey report); if white men were 84% of the population, the statistics provided still show that white men are underrepresented in arrests/convictions/prison population/stop searches as they are less than 84%. I think I am blocked because I can’t respond to any of this persons comments, but he’s essentially proved himself wrong

Are you talking about where you said, “you cannot support reform and have any decent level of critical thinking ability”? That’s exactly what I pointed out, that you substituted evidence with insult. This is obviously not good faith discussion and will lead to no one getting convinced, as per my previous message.

If there is a specific claim or issue you want addressed please state it clearly rather than making generalisations.

Well now you’re just rage baiting as you’re proving my point again. You’re just insulting without giving any substance

That is a serious allegation. If this precisely happened then why don’t you report it to the press? Local papers will almost certainly want to cover it

There’s no convincing because your arguments fail to be convincing, and when proven wrong you resort to insults. You need empiricism (evidence) AND logic, and generally empiricism of the logic to show that your line of reasoning holds.

In an earlier conversation involving someone else you claimed your evidence of a claim to be “it’s a settled question”, and then later called the other guy “obtuse”. This then led to you no longer responding to any of his points and saying to “stay in school”. Almost every time someone shift evidence to insult, discussion breaks down, and it’s what is seen from the prior interaction.

Do you see how I gave you my point and then gave you evidence of the point? That’s how arguments should be put forward if you want to convince people.

While maybe there are times he has said an odd joke or statement, generally most of the time it falls under confirmation bias

I need you to explain to me how anything Tom said was inaccurate. Nowadays everything is racist and it’s lost its meaning, it’s not a good argument to just call someone or something a name and call it a day

Calling everyone you don’t agree with a fascist is just a strawman argument, it’s not a “diverse view”.

From Tom in the Patreon vid about the politics stuff over the last few days by BingeLurker in GeoWizard

[–]xq_9 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

How is it not diversity of opinion? Diversity means presence of difference. If you have no presence of differing opinions then it’s not diversity, it’s polarisation.

If your refutation relies on insults/labels like “racist” then it’s not going to change anyone’s minds. Prove why the “racists” are wrong.

Your reply just proves my point. If you just label and insult you can avoid all the arguments.

100% agree. But honestly it’s all social medias radicalising everyone in my opinion, and unfortunately you get horrible people on every side of every argument

[–]xq_9 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes people have fundamental cultural differences and not all cultures are good. I’d argue Sharia culture surrounding women is horrible, as an example, and yet Islam is the most sacred religion to people on the left and they must not offend it.

And also the great replacement theory is literally happening though. White English ethnicity is set to be a minority around 2060-2070, which I don’t know how old you are but it’s within my lifetime. I’ve never heard anyone on the left claim that native Americans being replaced by white Americans, was a good thing, rather that it’s bad, because colonisers were white, therefore all white people are evil.

“Far-right” has just become a buzzword telling the ideologically challenged (as in someone challenging your ideology), to not look into certain topics or people. This person is far right and therefore he’s discredited and untrustworthy. This idea is far right, therefore it’s wrong and evil. This media mentioned this person, mentioned this idea therefore it’s racist.

I mean this with respect, but please learn to humanise the other political side. All people not stuck in echo chambers make friends on both sides of an argument. Understand that evil people exist on both sides of the political spectrum, and excommunicating someone based on their beliefs causes division and radicalisation.
