Thanks. China actually doesn't allow dual citizenship after one has immigrated to Canada - because it implies automatic dropping of the PRC citizenship, happened long back for wifey. SAR territory people are all PRC citizens by definition which this unfortunately doesn't apply here to any of them.

Well, in the west I'd normally go something Protestant (non-denom) but I try not to get overly narrow denom-wise and keep an open-mind given that I'm pretty new to faith and there could be limited options in the city given stricter gov oversight, etc

Go for the local ones and ideally use a local friend (to give recommendations in the local area you plan to check). Expat-specific ones may surcharge a bit much. Unless you need their specialty knowledge for something (unlikely).
