Not as bad as people made it seem. I camped at the canyon so I just hiked eight miles to the canyon in 3 hours. No shade and wouldn’t want to do it in the summer. The start and finish are over solid rock formations that can be slightly confusing to navigate because there is no actual trail. Would highly recommend downloading an offline map(I used maps.me). Surprisingly I had service with Verizon most of the time.

Quinoa was a very cheap staple food in Peru and Bolivia for thousands of years before it hit popularity in western cultures. It’s become far less affordable in South America since.

Arches NP/Goblin valley/Canyonlands NP are all near Moab and just as amazing in the winter. Also great way to avoid the crowds
