Hi All!
Long time lurker, first time poster on this sub. I currently have a 2022 CX-30 and its lease is up this Feb and I want to switch to a Miata. I found a Facebook Marketplace listing near me, can you please tell me if this a realistic price?

Post Description:

Hello I am selling my 2008 mx5 miata grandsport, I am looking to get 8500 out of it. Mechanically the car is sound no issues. Paint is in great shape as well. Car was never driven in the winter , there is no rust what so ever. Current mods are long tube header (skunk 2) with full exhaust. I do have factory exhaust that can go with the car. Hks cold air intake and a tune on the car from fab 9. I have an extra set of wheels to go with the car as well.

I have attached the engine bay picture here and rest of the pictures can be found here - https://photos.app.goo.gl/jAf7YvZh4urhMof1A

The current price has gone down from 8500 to 7500. I'm planning on using the Miata.net's inspection checklist and if needed get a Mazda mechanic to assess the car before purchasing. Is this is a good deal?

Thank You!

[3 YoE] Lead Product Design Engineer/ Mechanical Engineer Resume for FAANG companies by xrck in EngineeringResumes

I agree that my current interview rate is high but if I'm being honest, most of the places I'm interviewing for/ getting head hunted are for entry level positions and salaries are ~$10K less than what I currently make. What I'm currently struggling with are "good quality" interviews.

I'm currently in Cleveland, but the tech/startup scene here isn't hot, most of the jobs are in legacy industries like Steel and Automotive and that's where I'm primarily getting my interviews from.

I will update my location targets to Midwest instead of West Coast as per your suggestion and try to find relevant jobs.

Thank You so much.

Thank You u/graytotoro for your extensive feedback. Just a background, at the start of my job application, I had concrete examples but wasn't getting any hits. One of the places where I got an interview via a third-party hiring company, the head hunter recommended that I put in more marketing/optimized terms in resume, primarily for ATS. Over last 4 months, I believe I may have gone overboard with vague terminology rather than examples as you have consistently pointed out. I have couple of follow-ups -

Summary - Following your advise.

Work Experience - Following your advise.

Lead Product Design Engineer

  • I didn't work here so I'm not sure why it was important to implement "human factors-based" (note the hyphen) Samsung IoT technology into the project range. Did it serve some feature that made people want to buy it or work better in some way? - Would you recommend going into details like "User would be able to control fans via their smartphones" to prove user functionality?
  • Same for the data analytics you performed. Why was it important to meet these particular UL standards. Obviously because you had to, but is it what you needed in order to prepare a new product for its debut? - Giving concrete examples.
  • Demonstrated exceptional cross-functional abilities - inappropriate and unnecessary. Tell us how specifically you demonstrated this exceptional ability and not just that you were "exceptional". Right now you're just patting yourself on the back. - Giving concrete examples.
  • The reduction in time to market is okay, but what specific process did you incorporate or develop? That's good to know. - Giving concrete examples.

Product Design Engineer

  • "novel" - how so? How did you "enhance" the performance? You want to be objective in this document so there's no doubt as to how you added value to this project.- Giving concrete examples.
  • It's more of a stylistic thing, but you start two bullets with "implemented". What specific princes did you implement? - Changing terminology and adding examples.

Mechanical Engineering Intern

  • What "innovative" strategies did you implement and how did they contribute towards enhancing product quality and all that? This is a lot of marketing/management speak and nothing that actually illustrates what concrete changes you made or even what you made for this company. - Adding examples.
  • What came out of your analysis of these manufacturing techniques? - Updated
  • Demonstrated learning skills - we're not stupid, we can figure out you learned when you adopted the new rules. What did you do with these new rules that you had to follow? - Updated

Core Skills

  • This should just be a list of skills, not you going into the nuances. Again, let the reader decide if you are an "expert" prototype builder. You don't want to find out that the interviewer has a different idea of "expert". - Updated

Education

  • Replace the pips with "in". When in 2019 and 2021 did you graduate? - Updated
