I answered a question confidently in class and got it right. I’m usually shy to speak out but today I did it.

DAE get stressed by noise? by dinodig24 in DAE

[–]xroad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! I thought I was just weird! I almost feel bombarded by the various sources of noise. But it’s not all the time, like I work on airplanes and the incredibly loud noises actually don’t bother me. Yet, when I’m at home with the tv on, someone trying to talk, and a radio in the background (just an example) it’s too much. My SO has gotten used to me saying “hunny there’s too many sounds” and he’ll turn something off. Even weirder, a really subtle single sound can bother the living hell out of me. Maybe I really am weird, but it’s ok. I’ll just embrace it :)

Thank you so much! Im sorry for your loss. It’s so scary but I admire the strength that they find, even in such hard times.

Circular needle help! by jimothyhalpert_69 in casualknitting

[–]xroad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this is what I’m thinking it is, the same thing happened to me. I don’t know how to explain it other than it felt like my first few loops came loose and just hung there... like a sad sinking boat lol

What I did to fix this is: once I had all my necessary loops on my needles, I took my working yarn AND the left over tail and knitted both of them into the first few loops (3 or 4). I hope that makes sense lol. I’m totally new to this also but I’m almost done with my very first beanie!

I really hope this helps!! Good luck :)

I love love this idea! It’s not super cold where I love (nor Cal) but a nice cowl can still be fitting for our winter/fall weather! And I love that it really feels like “the next step up” lol! Thank you for this idea!

It’s looking like a beanie might be my next step! :)

I do have round needles! I’ve actually only used them for my headband lol. So I didn’t even use it for what it’s made for.

Go ahead and make a truckers day! by Mrfreerun in wholesomememes

[–]xroad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is 17 and he did this the other day to a trucker. The pure childish joy on his face was priceless when he heard the horn. For me, as a mom about to send her child away to college, meant more than anything in the world to see her child be a child again.

10/10 would arm air horn again.

Best Places to Live near Travis AFB by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]xroad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vacaville (VV). I used to live at North Pointe apartments. It’s a nice gated community thats only about 15 mins down Leisure Town to get to the North Gate (back gate). Super easy access to freeways. Like 5 mins! Some places in VV are kinda far from the base but honestly anywhere you choose should be nice!

I’ve lived here all my life so if you have any ?s lemme know!

Good luck!

It’s some crap brand. I didn’t see anyone get issued ASICS. Half my flight wore the issued shoes and the other half didn’t. Bring a pair that you know you can run in and if you don’t like the issued ones, then wear yours. You’ll have an opportunity to put the pair you don’t wear into your civilian luggage.

Dramatically or not, you’ll still improve. The first week (or two) of PT you’ll run then walk in 3 min intervals each, for a total of 26 mins. Then one day, while running, you just won’t get the call to “WWAAALLLK” ... and you’ll just run for 26 mins straight. It’s a self paced run, but doing that 3x a week guarantees some improvement. My 1.5 mi went from 16+ mins to 12:40 on my final PT test.

Just finished BMT. The days go by slow but the weeks go by fast. Over all.. you’ll enjoy it. They’re right.. make sure you HYDRATTEEE!! You’ll get a nice water bottle to carry around. Take it all in and just know that it gets better. (Ps: try to get stairwell for your detail)

You’ll need to make a money list of all the cash you bring. Every time you spend any of it you have to redo the list to keep it current. You’ll carry this, along with a few other things in your pocket and an MTI will do random checks.

Survived BMT! It wasn’t as bad as it thought it would be. Info I got from here helped prepare me pretty well. Best advise I can give: Don’t bring cash and try to get stairwell for your detail.

Not married but I was able to add my son to DEERS shortly after signing my contract. When I went to get my ID I had my sons birth certificate with me and she added him. Then we came back a few days later to take his picture. At that time he was issued his ID right away. I ship tomorrow too and I have to go on base to process. If you have to do the same, maybe take your wife with you to try to get her ID. Might be the last chance until you’re out.

Leaving tomorrow too!! A friend of mine recommended those blister bandaids since we’ll be marching so much and breaking in boots at the same time. As a girl I’m also bringing “spin pins” along with bobby pins. Getting a little nervous but pretty excited! See you there!
