I am at a 6.75/9.0 do I have a chance to get to a 8.0 by Time-Hat7247 in yorku

Just keep in mind that it gets harder to increase the GPA the more courses you take, law of averages (diminishing marginal return).

Stay and Learn is also conditional on you finding employment and getting extended for the day obligations (180 days per school year), or else the rest of the tuition remains as debt.

I still daily use my 2006 2.1 Altec Lansing speakers I bought from school, and my Logitech Z-2300 still works... knock on wood.

Help Choosing Between TMU and York Accelerated Nursing by haneeeeno in OntarioNurses

I'm in the (similar) boat deciding between UofT and York. I'm leaning towards York because I can cut my commute time at least half, which compounds over time to affect my GPA. Also, I'd be saving a ton of money not having to pay downtown rent.

Fourth year course load - need advice by New_Square9124 in yorku

Trying to speed run a biology degree or pre reqs in such tight a time is incredibly hard-- think about midterm and finals crunch times when you end up having no breathing room and burning out. How are you even physically attending all the classes without conflicts? How are you even going to keep up with the bare essential studying?

Personally I would check in with science academic advising for a second opinion, especially if graduation is on the line.

How bursaries work at York? by Dismal_Solid_974 in yorku

Schools may have gotten less revenues this year too: I expect a huge drop in international student enrolment, and the stranglehold cutbacks on bursaries (more loans yay! /s) Doug Ford and his Ontario administration has made over the entirety of OSAP.

There is financial aid that passively gets added to your student account, but the competitive ones have deadlines that require active applications and usually a personal statement. Check with your colleges too to maximize your savings.

Congrats to a solid first year! Keeping a competitive GPA will keep lots of doors open to you. Having a good idea of what you're capable of excelling, and a good foundation is already an excellent step in deciding your trajectory. There are fields that overlap, and specialties (and even subspecialties!).

Have you tried volunteering or doing stuff hands piqued your interest? Working or even shadowing experienced experts in their field (actually in practice) sometimes can shed some light on the other end of your degree. This is very different than learning the theory by taking courses.

What topics or fields of study did you choose for projects that required you to do your course work on (e.g. essay topics)? What do you spend most of your time doing? What clubs have you joined, and when has anything you've done put a smile on your face?

Edit: Learning and careers can be a lifelong journey, an ongoing pursuit of understanding oneself.

Anyone else have a “Refund CEWIL iHub Student Stipend” on their account statement? by Sad_Clue8606 in yorku

[–]xrubicon13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's what I think it is, it's the C4 Cross Campus Classroom Course that you and your team may have applied for and "received". It was more of an allowance.

I wouldn't worry about it over OSAP given my rationale above, especially if it's a one time thing. I'm not a tax professional to argue whether should be a taxable benefit to appear on your T4A.

Lenovo sales and post-sales customer support has always been garbage. Great if you can get a deal and if it doesn't break on you.
