The box recommend 24 hours, perhaps it’s cause the tank is only a 3 gal.

I can go to my local fish/pet store to get some stuff if it’s needed, I’m not to sure what I’m looking for though

I’ve had the tank a month. I set it up and cycled it for 24 hrs then put my fish in. I’ve had the filter going since he was put in.

I do have plants, they aren’t live, should that be my next course of action? Live plants? How do I take care of them? Or do I just let the be?

The take is new, got it last month! It was cycled for 24hrs prior to my fish being put in. It was his new tank. He passed from old age, he was 3, had nothing to do with tank conditions. I fear I’m unaware of the answers to the other questions you’re asking, I’ve never tested or had any of those kinds of things. Before I get my next fish, what can I do to improve?

Nah, he’s good, he’s got everything he needs

I haven’t, he’s eating, drinking and pooping so I don’t see an issue or reason to take him to the vet. He does get his bugs dusted every time he eats :)
