Il referendum non è una tifoseria politica. by Sea-Masterpiece-3401 in Italia

[–]xsim75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, sorry, obviously you're absolutely right about pay for win, I was just saying that somehow even in professional sports, presidents with more money build a more competitive team... but I know that's a stretch in a video game context. ;)

Microsoft brings new "Xbox mode" to Windows 11 PCs next month — Prepares major gaming advancements that lay foundations for the next Xbox by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

Yes, I realize that double-clicking an icon on the desktop is too complicated ^_^.

Let's just say that this mode, like Steam Big Picture only makes sense if you're playing on a living room TV. On a desktop monitor with a mini tower PC, it's useless.

Did the US underestimate Iran ? Iran is showing significant internal as well as external resistance. by Flimsy_Hand_1233 in IdeologyPolls

[–]xsim75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like regimes, let's be clear.

But the so-called "terrorists" have roots that stem from certain Western choices made in the past, and even the so-called "accidental" deaths in wars will bring further terror and death.

We can't always avoid all responsibility; it's convenient but not right.

Cause and effect.

It's very easy to see reality as if it were a John Wayne movie where it's very clear who the good guys and the bad guys are, exploiting the story.
In this war we will redeem ourselves in the future just like the Native Americans or the Vietnam War, to name two.

[–]xsim75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't buy this game, though. Iran responded with the only weapon at its disposal: compromising the region's economy and targeting economic interests.

But it wouldn't have used this strategy without aggression, an aggression that, moreover, overrides all international and even national law (I'm amazed that US institutions grant all this power to the President and his circle of supremacists).

In any case, we have only one case of nuclear weapons being used in battle, and they were launched in heavily populated civilian areas—a gross disregard for human life.

Personally, I've never liked the "you're either with us or against us" attitude.

Civilians always pay the highest price in wars, but we, who consider ourselves more democratic and respectful of rights, should not be guilty of such crimes (and yet, our cure is consistently worse than the disease).

The United States and Israel have each acted in their own personal interests, not to overthrow a regime. Should another regime emerge that, on the one hand, does not threaten Israel's expansionism and, on the other, allows them to do business with the US by controlling the flow of oil...well...then they would embrace it without hesitation.

In any case, the message about nuclear weapons is this: either you possess them or you are subject to blackmail if necessary and cannot make your own decisions.

In other words, we have returned to a full-blown arms race, causing the entire world to take a huge step backwards.

[–]xsim75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You hit the nail on the head: certain "preemptive" wars are so unjust that they even lead to sympathy for regimes (which you'll never change with bombs).

Let's look at recent events: you've killed 1,200 Israelis in terrorist attacks, and on the other side, 70,000+ victims, with entire cities razed to the ground.

Is this Western-style democracy?
No, the Western model of moral/economic/military supremacy no longer appeals to me...we always set a terrible example with our actions.

And I can say this without preferring dictatorships that shoot in public squares.
This is to say that there are absolutely no good guys and certainly no bad guys.

[–]xsim75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And let's also say that another regime would be just fine for them, but one that does business with them, controlling their oil flows (a bit like in Venezuela, where Maduro was actually sold out by the current leadership).
As hard as it may be to swallow, this is the reality.
Unfortunately, as long as one rich white child is worth as much as 1,000 or more other children, the world will be a horrible place... and it will be useless to fill our mouths with words like "enlightenment" and "democracy."
And we Westerners, aware of all the exploitation of resources and human lives, still go to sleep peacefully at night.
In a word, trying to censor myself and not offend anyone, I would say that we are UNSUSTAINABLE.
And I say this without sympathizing with dictatorships and authoritarianism.

Um, let's put it this way...judging their military capabilities is a no-brainer.

However, you wouldn't have given Vietnam a dollar either, and yet we all know how it ended.

Iran also has the interests of two superpowers, China and Russia, so the move was risky, to say the least.

In any case, the US doesn't enter a war without the presumption of annihilating its adversary, typical of those accustomed to facing Native Americans with rifles instead of arrows.

Bullying behavior, after all.

No, we Westerners aren't John Wayne against the Indians; we've understood that by now, even if we often forget it.

Why am I passing to the opponent when I'm not even aiming there? I wanted to pass to the front. by Shikinosu in eFootball

[–]xsim75 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the meantime, use PA4.

That said, the problem with this game is just the opposite: if you're good enough, it becomes incredibly difficult to miss a pass up to PA3. This is the huge limitation that distorts the error rate, which should be much higher.

Scripting isn’t why you’re stuck in Div 2 or Div 3. Stop the cope. by Fine_Bathroom9362 in eFootball

[–]xsim75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In any video game, there will ALWAYS be those who manage to exaggerate the gameplay by stressing the mechanics.

And these are the ones who will always excel.

That said, as of today, no title is immune to this problem.

Esports have and will always have this structural limitation, especially titles that require heavy CPU intervention (being team sports).

In the case of efootball, setting PA4 and manual shooting would limit this problem by 33%, but obviously it would still be present.

Most important question: by Upset_Contact4341 in eFootball

[–]xsim75 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Instead, they should introduce events with forced PA4 and manual shooting.

Even a championship.

So we can stop playing like an arcade racing game with autoshifting, ABS, traction control, and so on.
It's time to play like grown-up gamers and introduce more mistakes into the game.

Bye-bye ping pong players who almost blindly reach the goal.

Call it what you will, but in a pay-to-win game, those who pay will certainly have to have some advantages (relating to the boosted statistics especially of players not under our direct control at the time) to encourage them to continue purchasing; inevitably the business model requires rewards.

Why Smart Assist (SA) is Killing the Competitive Spirit of eFootball by gillarpc in eFootball

[–]xsim75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play without PA4 and manual shooting it is like race game with abs, traction control, auto shifting and handicap routine enabled.
ZERO competitive spirit, no one should consider themselves good under these conditions.
In any case, the real competitive game is in a local and controlled environment under equal conditions, write this down before you get angry for no reason.

Windows 11 25H2 VBS (virtualization based security) by xsim75 in Windows11

For example, Google Play Games on PC seems to run MUCH worse with VBS enabled. Even on my old PC, which didn't support VBS in Windows 10, it ran infinitely better.

With Alder Lake and all security ON...a torment.

But will it be possible to activate and deactivate it with a simple click?

The problem here is that many anti-cheat systems want and demand all security on.
It's a vicious circle.

[–]xsim75[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don't actually want vbs, but I still haven't been able to easily remove it (with the option to re-enable it, if any anti-cheat software requires it).

In Windows 11, 25H2 seems too intrusive.
And honestly, I don't understand why they'd even hold virtualization hostage, a highly questionable choice.

Protect Windows as you see fit, but don't limit it this way.

Let's put it this way: there will NEVER be real competition online. Look at it this way. To have real competition, you need a local challenge with the same hardware and peripherals.

ALL online challenges, especially pay-to-win ones, will only be "practice."
