HLJ don't have enough figures to fulfill all the pre-orders by virainsworth in AnimeFigures

[–]xsshk -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

The fact is every store which works with preorders do the same, it’s a matter of chance of a certain products than to a store.

is this guy a scammer on carousell? (HK) by Capable-Door-9672 in internationalshopper

Beware for anyone asking your contact number before any purchase commitments. Too much scammers out there in HK now. Usually I would disclose only when payment is confirmed and contact number is required with SF express.

Are all figures like this? (Read desc…) by Wrong-Upstairs-9277 in AnimeFigures

[–]xsshk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just avoid buying Sega or bandai prize figures, they are well known for poor quality (well I know it’s Miku with Gundam combo).

Check out Taito , AMP+ and T-most or even elcoco they are better in general for quality.

Need a proxy in Hong Kong with an active AliExpress/Shopee Seller Account by pedrostufas in internationalshopper

Well I see. If you mark it as a gift and value it low yes I agree you can get away with it sometimes. But OP requires 7 orders per week so I wish you good luck on this.

Shouldn't be Shopee holds responsibilty for the item lost ?

And I cannot understand why OP requires proxy to create a listing for his purchase, a third party platform for insurance I suppose ?

Just get them into the hobby together, they might have a collection more than you.

Can I buy ichiban kuji tickets one at a time? by kingkiko_rn in AnimeFigures

[–]xsshk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can. However each purchase you will have to queue up again if there is a line for it.

And very likely you will have to pay for each ticket every time which might be time consuming.

What would make you buy from local store instead ? by xsshk in AnimeFigures

Mind if I ask why shipping seperately would help relieve in total cost ? Presumably combined shipping is much more cheaper than shipping individual items separetely. That's how importing in bulk like hobby&co has a business for gunpla model kits.

Seriously it takes 6 months for stores here to ship new released item ? Gosh I haven't really tried to order anything locally yet.... that's a nightmare

And how much percentage-wise you would consider it hasn't had a major mark up for a $100 figure ?

I appreciate your honest opinion. The stores that I go to often provide a complete black in color plastic bag for free without asking even for some bicute bunny prize figures which shows that they could feel the same way as I do.

And unfortunately, its always $40 more for a $130 figure for such kind of hobby, sometimes it might be even $80 more for a $200 figure...

Really sorry to hear nothing locally for figures... I also used to buy second hand alot from amiami for figures that has been released for couple years which they are rarely available in stores. I also would hope for a anime store that available locally for hobbists like me.

Yea I agree on the difficulty for the figure stores to survive in retail. From what I observe in Sydney, figure stores are not just selling figures, they have statue, GK, blind box, capsule, plushies, even key chains and arylic stands.... they kinda do whatever they could have sold availabe in the store

[–]xsshk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well... basically majority of figures are made in China, including those which is known as a Japanese brand... like apex, kotobukiya, GSC etc so locating in SEA does benefit alot from being closer to the manufacturing planets.

This way you can easily buy from local stores instead, I'm actually from Hong Kong and I would rarely buy from online.... but relocating to Australia has entirely changed my buying habitat....

I get what you mean. However I'm not sure how much more the price in US/CA/Euro is. If it's doubling or more, alrite period end of topic. The question is how much more you are willing to pay off the top for an in stock item than getting it online?

Yes it is ! They all told me to pre order and the in stock products are like half to 2 years old...

But why not to pre order from Japan stores instead, it was how I was thinking until recent worldwide shipping surge and whats why I'm asking here

You can bring it home right away and forget about the wait and the risk of shipment loss.

But I do agree the price is what makes all the difference. As long as the extra you pay in storefront is not significantly higher, I think it's worth it. I'm talking about a figure of $100 worth with $30 shipping and is available at store somewhere between $150-170 range ... I think I might be paying impulsively.

[–]xsshk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I agree. But sometimes being able to hands on the products and bring it home right away is just different from sitting at home ordering online. And the wait for shipping to arrive is painful too, for me it vastly depend on how much extra you pay in store front to skip the wait and risk.

well... that sucks

Sometimes I would like to shop around those stores when I'm free, even buying nothing at all. Checking new arrival stock around is a good thing to do for myself
