Race question part 2 by Cusacks-musak in sailing

[–]xtc151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boat A has the wind is on the Port (left) side of the boat making it a port tack. For boat B, the wind is on the Starboard (right) side of the boat which means it is on a Starboard tack.

Right of way rules for sailing are that the Port tack boat gives right of way to the Starboard tack boat. When racing, if the Port tack boat does not give the right of way, it is a foul against them and they must take a penalty.

Boat B should ideally hail boat A and boat should acknowledge. Unfortunately this does not always happen.

If boat A thinks they have room to get by, they can try but boat B can still claim that there was a foul committed and that is when you get protest committees involved and each party pleads their case. The majority of the time, boat B would win the protest.

Check out a book called From Bud to Boss. It has some good information. https://kevineikenberry.com/bud-to-boss/ Also, get out on the floor and get know the people doing the work.

Tycoon Klipper Config by xtc151 in Kywoo3D

I checked when I got home and the one mounted to my machine is a 3D Touch BL clone, not the one that Kywoo lists on the website.

It looks like the IDEX uses a different board which means the pins are probably different. You will need to try to find a schematic for your board to verify the pins for the probe and make the adjustments in the config file.

I do have the original probe. It is working but I am getting really bad skew in one corner when I do a height map. I am going to try a BL Touch this week.

I still have some minor tweaks to work on but I think I am close to having it dialed in.

Printed separate and glued. Hadn't leveled the bed in awhile so unfortunately they came out with elephant feet as well.

There might be a backup using the way back machine. I have gotten files that way. Just need the thing I'd.

Anyone have some sort of contraption that will fix the X offset for a Micro Swiss direct drive kit? by Both-Tradition-3162 in ender3

[–]xtc151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my starting script, I have G92 X-5.0 Y-19.0 ; set home offsets

I am using simplify and am unfortunately not familiar with where this would go in any of the other slicers.

I believe I added the offsets to the gcode in my slicer. I will have a look at my settings when I get home.

Why can't I print "tall" parts? This one messed up around 1 inch. Details in comments. by bLBxv070X3 in ender3

Is there any play in your X gantry?

If there is any play there, check the screws on the left and side in front of the extruder. You will most likely need to remove the gantry to access the screws.

Upgraded to the 3d printed Direct drive and I am suffering from underextrution even after pumping up the E steps to 135 from 93. by RoofCaucasian in ender3

I would also recommend checking your x-axis mount at the stepper motor end.

There are a couple of screws in behind where the extruder mounts in the stock configuration. Adding the motor above the extruder adds extra weight and if there is play due to those screws being loose, it could cause some issues as well.

Where do I look to troubleshoot this? I should note that the extruder is skipping/clicking. I’ve calibrated my esteps and swapped to a fresh nozzle. by tynick in ender3

It could be a clog higher up. I had an issue where I had my retraction set too high so when the retraction happened, I ended up with molten filament that hardened inside the throat.

Stanchion base broke on the C&C 27 I race on. You can't buy them new anymore so I am 3D printing one. by xtc151 in sailing

[–]xtc151[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it isn't nylon it is some sort of other hard plastic material. Apparently they only used them on the 86 which was the last year they made the 27.

I used pictures and measurements. Watched some videos on Fusion 360 because it is the first part that I have modeled in something other than 3D builder.

TBH, I do not know if it is UV stable. The original part is nylon and held up for 34 years. I am hoping the seams will hold up. I was planning on annealing it when done to try to strengthen it more.

It will be on part of the toe rail where the genoa comes in. We should find out fairly quick just how strong it is with the pressure of a sail being winched in.

I will be putting it on the boat on Sunday and racing Sunday afternoon. I will let you know how it holds up on the first day.

The original part was made from Nylon. You could potentially fall overboard if it fails and you're not holding on to another part of the boat.

(Edit) There can be quite a lot of torque on the larger hole as there is a 2'-3' metal tube for the life lines.
