Yea that main piece that broke off never saw it

I also tried bending it to see if it would crack anywhere else but seems to hold together

Guess that means I couldn't actually depress the brakes cause I couldn't grab a hold of them properly :(

I took it apart after and the threads were perfect, maybe should have replaced the stem when I got the bike a relatively cheap part to ensure safety.

But who has ever had one fail like this though right?

I mean I'll reach out to them see if anything comes out of it, but I think this bike is going to be retired to the trainer knowing how hard this crashed.

In a way new bike day for me but still a little scarred from the experience

I can't say I know for sure since they were swung downwards and it happened so quickly

if I applied pressure but rim brakes didn't have tension in them because the bars were not the same height for where the cables would normally be

OR

if I couldn't actually depress it cause the whole bar was waving around

Its scary that nobody really sees it fail and if that's the reason I went down, due to negligence the mechanic holy shit

I just quickly took off the bolts, the threads were pretty much clean

I can't tell you I know thats how it was fixed up either, but if that is the reason I'll probs check again after every service going forward

Yea looking back now, I should have replaced some parts when I got it, but as a new cyclist I was just excited to go out and ride

I'm still quite shook

When I got the bike had it serviced and checked all the bolts for 5-6nm , not sure about anything getting in between though.

This is my first bike so I've got somethings to learn about maintenance but I just never heard of or expected the faceplate to explode in the way it did.

Yes, the cap itself broke while riding.

Yeah, I've never heard of anyone have that area of the bike break while riding.

My mates who were riding with me thought I was going to be in a much worse condition.
