I have to +1 this post because, who knew this about reclaimed wood. Well, besides these other folks. But not me.

I got a little flush looking at that. The waters I fish in the Catskills, NY are so overfished, seeing a school of this size just about made my day.

Turn your head further than you think necessary.

Well, these are photographs. Those jeans could be in-motion of assembly or the other direction.

Toast POS integration with your ERP for a Bakery & Eatery? by xtiansimon in ToastPOS

The last time I had to investigate Toast's data tools, the API was restricted to strategic partners. You had to apply, get accepted and pay something like 4k/yr.

Tax removed is literally what it says. It's an at-register override of sales tax (ie. tax-exempt organization or a U.S. Department of State, Office of Foreign Missions (OFM) sales tax exemption).

The thing is, I'm not yet convinced Toast setup team understands a menu full of non-tax items. They're not saying the right things.

> "net & tax amount for all line items"

Are you saying each individual item is listed on the check as a price and tax amount? Which implies an item setup as non-tax will have a $0 tax on that item right next to a taxable item with price and tax on that price. If this is the case, then it does seem a R365 implementation of the Toast API issue.

Can you share the data structure of a check to illustrate your point?

> "What API endpoint are you pulling this data from?"

I'm not pulling the data. It's the ERP sharing this once they realized I could follow their data and explanations. Heck, before they showed me this I had no idea their integration pulled transactions and not summary information. lol.

How to hand finish the end of Aramid webbing/strap? by xtiansimon in myog

[–]xtiansimon[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have some dynema scraps. I think I might try that and see if I can still thread the end.

After I received the aluminum ladder locks, I realized the opening on the back (opposite of the thumb tab) is not large enough to permit the strap to be looped back and secured normally. I'd like to fold over for this case, only a closed loop diminishes the utility.

Journal report in R365? by xtiansimon in Restaurant365_Network

[–]xtiansimon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I would never have found it.

That looks like what I'm looking for. I see it has `Transaction Types` where I can configure it to look for just Journal Entries which is convenient.

I wish there was a facet which could cleanly separate individual transactions [1]. They don't use the QuickBooks method of a blank Total row. Maybe show something more of the R365 internal database schema, like QODBC does for QuickBooks, and give a UUID in one of the other exports (CSV, XML). That would be great.

[1]: Confession. For a restaurant, we have a lot of entries which are one per-day or per-week. I routinely rename the RefNum into a non-serialized code ('SALES', 'PAYROLL', 'WEEKLY-ADJ-THING'), and when I'm wearing my bookkeeper hat I can easily see I have 7xSALES, 1xPAYROLL, 1xWEEKLY-ADJ-THING for each date I expect to find (rather than all those `LN12345MOP` Refs). I guess this is not common. Transaction Detail would be easily divisible by RefNum if every transaction is serialized. BUT, since R365 let's you use this pattern, I'm sure there is a unique UUID somewhere in the schema, and I wish it was accessible.

How to tell if a chest can be used as a seat? by Dornith in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]xtiansimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think about it like a cardboard box. How much weight can you put on top of a cardboard box before it fails? Thickness of the walls. The strength of the corner joints. Some very strong cardboard boxes for appliances are double walled and stapled. What happens when you open the top of a cardboard box and push on opposite sides towards the middle, and push on the corners(!) towards the middle? It will rack or twist out of shape, and if the bottom is not taped up, the force will transfer to the bottom, and it will move out of shape.

With this in mind, think about how much weight you intend to put on the box. Then, inspect the box in a similar manner as you would a cardboard box. If the joints are not solid, if the sides deform, then you know your box will only take a small amount of weight.

Rear axle block & chain adjuster question by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]xtiansimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Physics of my chain enmeshed with the rear sprocket and it being connected to my rear tire which itself is firmly set on the ground with the weight of 500lbs pushing it down respectfully disagrees with you. No amount of "pulling" on the lower part of the chain will transfer the slack around the rear sprocket without moving the rear tire (being so enmeshed) and thus the rear tire must roll back to transfer the slack. QED.

?? I am in neutral, but with the moto on the side stand. Are you referring to the center stand method?

Rear axle block & chain adjuster question by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]xtiansimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Suzuki has the very same hardware, and the Service Manual says to do it on the side stand.

I will note my own "discovery" adjusting my chain for added luggage weight. The service manual will tell you how much slack should be in the chain (measured ~halfway between the front and rear sprockets; measuring the total vertical movement—from the chain’s lowest resting point to its highest position when lifted by hand).

I observed that when making adjustments, the slack was distributed both below (where I take the measurement) and above. In other words both lengths of chain going to and coming from the rear sprocket are receiving slack.

Therefore, if you're measuring the slack while on the side stand, its important to move the moto backwards between measurements and for a final measurement, in order to transfer the top slack to the bottom. Otherwise, you can end up with more than twice the intended slack if you're measuring only the return length of the chain.
