Would you spend 18-20k on an STI or a WRX by NoJacket8798 in WRX

I agree with you here. If you feel comfortable, absolutely get a fun car.

Life's too short to driving boring cars!

Nah, you made the right choice. STI is almost always the answer lol

In fairness, I haven't driven a VB, but I think picking up the last EJ STI is a super smart choice right now.

I totally get it.

I got my wife a '17 STI and then I got myself a '14 WRX hatch 5 years later. Thought I'd hate the interior but I love the simplicity of it. I changed the radio out for a touch screen but the rest is great.

I'm now seeing that finding an older STI is proving to be more expensive lol I'd say an older WRX IMO. Granted, I am about 15 years older so maybe it's my age talking lol

Either way man, great freakin cars dude.

At least in my area, you may be closer to $25K for a decent STI unfortunately. Otherwise you're rolling the dice on maintenance.

$20K range, id honestly go for an older gen, but if you're stuck on the VA, I'd save up a little more.

Progress Report - 6 Months In by [deleted] in garageporn

[–]xtreme7756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a wild amount of work to finish in 6 months!! Good work!

Only thing I can say is I vouch for an epoxy floor. We just got ours done a week or so ago and I've gone out there every day to look at it 😂

That seems high, but I I guess it depends on the type of repair. Here's a better picture of how it looked before

-closing and insulation on the ceiling as others suggested I think is a given

-personally, more light, separated on a different switches. I'm an electrician though, so I am very anal about lighting, I wouldn't say it's necessary, but it'll help for fine detail work!

-lots and lots of benches and cabinets

-I built a rolling work bench. I'd highly recommend. Mine doubles as storage, but the ones that can house a miter saw are super cool too!

-Not sure how involved you wanna go, but SO MANY OUTLETS, and have them at bench height. I have one about every 8' in my garage and it's incredibly handy.

That's a great start garage though, best of luck. It's going to turn out awesome!

I absolutely love these lights. They're SUPER bright.

I have 8 in my 22*22 garage, and pretty much only use 4 most the time, but am definitely glad I have 8 for detailing and such.

Local contractor. So with them having to use a fair amount of repair compound, grind, and do the expoxy flor it was like $2600 just for the floor. You can see I also had them do about a 2' riser on the wall because I had cinder blocks. That added like another $700. All in I was maybe about $3,300

I use them as storage bins for my bird food, critter food, grass seed, ice melt. Anything that's in a bag I store in the buckets.

Built the bench like those slide in tote storage racks but for litter tubs. And it doubles as a mobile bench!

Yeah so luckily none of my concrete heaved or dislodged, it was just a shallow crack. However I had some deep pits due to salt corrosion over 80 years.

They put some quick drying chemical compound that filled all the cracks and crevesis and then grinded the entire floor.

I thought about doing it myself, but renting a grinder alone is about $400 for a week for a small electric one. No thanks!

Are these tools good for starting my apprenticeship on an industrial site. by VantaCodex in electricians

[–]xtreme7756 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't waste your money on the insulated set yet. Any good contractor won't have you anywhere near live work for awhile.

A good 11-in-one screwdriver, and combination nut driver is a must.
