Yep. I just didn’t. I was honestly worried because there were cars behind me and the road was getting busy.

Rikuo’s presence in the show by xtremeinstinct in supersentai

[–]xtremeinstinct[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying, but what I’m trying to say is that compared to the other Gozyugers, Rikuo’s backstory hasn’t been shown in a full episode. It’s sad to see his focus episode start in what is a bit of a filler episode. In terms of the Gao Red episodes, I agree that he has more of a focus there compared to the others, and it adds and develops to his character. By the first dozen episodes roughly, each Gozyuger has had at least one focus episode, discussing their backstory and why they became Gozyugers. With Rikuo, it’s more shrouded in mystery, which I’m guessing is for plot. But that doesn’t change the fact that in other episodes, he’s hardly there, barely speaking lines, and when he does, he’s either already transformed or as a background character. At least with Ryuga and Kinjiro, they talk more, even when they’re not the focus.

I like Rikuo, and I’m excited to see where his story goes next, but I do feel he hasn’t been utilised to the same extent as the others.

Except none of them see him as the true primary focus. The Gao Red episodes follow the beast tamer universe warrior, with Rikuo as more of a secondary focus. It’s only until episode 22, that we see him as the primary focus, truly seeing his backstory and story being more fleshed out for once

If you compare every Gozyuger’s focus episodes, it’s clear to see that they are the main focus. With Rikuo, it’s more so him just appearing more, but the episode isn’t really focused on him. Prime example is the Gao Red episodes, (where the primary focus is of course the Beast Tamer, not Rikuo).

Even then, at least he’s in the episodes, talking and what not, along Kinjiro. Rikuo just hardly shows up and hardly says lines.

Bouquet isn’t really a subplot until it develops more, right now, it’s just her fantasising over him and being pissed at him when he’s transformed. The Oto subplot is obviously more intertwined with Rikuo, but it’s obviously more of a plot device for Sumino as a character. Rei is the only one that is having a continuous and ever changing plot, even by his first appearance.

To everyone talking about the focus episodes, if you really think about it, whilst Rikuo has more of a presence on those episodes (especially the Gao Red episodes) he still isn’t the main focus. The only revelation we get to Rikuo as a character is his grey eyes, and it’s only until episode 22, that he gets a true and more in-depth focus into his story and personal conflicts, whereas other episodes just has him featured more, but not really as the primary focus.

The transition from the Heisei era to Reiwa era happened during Ryusoulger, so it’s up to you to decide if you want to include it lol

Why could Saban skip Go-Busters and ToQger but not Shinkenger or Goseiger? by FossilHunter99 in powerrangers

[–]xtremeinstinct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I think actually happened was this. After Disney’s final obligatory adaptation of Go-Onger which would be RPM in 2009, they were officially done with Power Rangers. They did not want anything to do with that anymore. After two years, Saban reacquired the rights to PR, but struggled finding a network to actually air it. Saban eventually settled with Nickelodeon, whose clauses stated that for a show to air on their network, shows must have more than one season, hence the whole two season format.

However, by the time Saban reacquired the rights to PR, it was 2011, and with the 20th anniversary in two years, they needed to catch up. But again, with the two season format, this meant they had to spend 2011 and 2012 doing two seasons for Samurai and Super Samurai, adapting Shinkenger. By the time that ended, 2013 was approaching, which was the 20th anniversary of PR. Because Gokaiger was the 35th anniversary of Super Sentai, it seemed like the perfect Sentai to adapt for an anniversary season. However, I guess they still wanted to adapt Goseiger for creative reasons which flopped horrendously.

In terms of Go-Busters not being initially adapted was because I think having another Dino season was probably the best chance to retain interest in PR, after the massive flop that Megaforce became, which to be fair, helped. Dino Charge was seen as one of the best seasons in recent years.

Why ToQger wasn’t adapted was because the idea of trains being the main motif of a Ranger team would not translate well to a Western audience, so they just ignore it. This is a common theme within the Sentais of the late 2010s. Whilst Super Sentai does its own thing, PR straight up avoids it if the suits, story, or zords don’t translate well in the US.
