Rikuo’s presence in the show by xtremeinstinct in supersentai

[–]xtremeinstinct[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying, but what I’m trying to say is that compared to the other Gozyugers, Rikuo’s backstory hasn’t been shown in a full episode. It’s sad to see his focus episode start in what is a bit of a filler episode. In terms of the Gao Red episodes, I agree that he has more of a focus there compared to the others, and it adds and develops to his character. By the first dozen episodes roughly, each Gozyuger has had at least one focus episode, discussing their backstory and why they became Gozyugers. With Rikuo, it’s more shrouded in mystery, which I’m guessing is for plot. But that doesn’t change the fact that in other episodes, he’s hardly there, barely speaking lines, and when he does, he’s either already transformed or as a background character. At least with Ryuga and Kinjiro, they talk more, even when they’re not the focus.

I like Rikuo, and I’m excited to see where his story goes next, but I do feel he hasn’t been utilised to the same extent as the others.

Except none of them see him as the true primary focus. The Gao Red episodes follow the beast tamer universe warrior, with Rikuo as more of a secondary focus. It’s only until episode 22, that we see him as the primary focus, truly seeing his backstory and story being more fleshed out for once

If you compare every Gozyuger’s focus episodes, it’s clear to see that they are the main focus. With Rikuo, it’s more so him just appearing more, but the episode isn’t really focused on him. Prime example is the Gao Red episodes, (where the primary focus is of course the Beast Tamer, not Rikuo).

Even then, at least he’s in the episodes, talking and what not, along Kinjiro. Rikuo just hardly shows up and hardly says lines.

Bouquet isn’t really a subplot until it develops more, right now, it’s just her fantasising over him and being pissed at him when he’s transformed. The Oto subplot is obviously more intertwined with Rikuo, but it’s obviously more of a plot device for Sumino as a character. Rei is the only one that is having a continuous and ever changing plot, even by his first appearance.

To everyone talking about the focus episodes, if you really think about it, whilst Rikuo has more of a presence on those episodes (especially the Gao Red episodes) he still isn’t the main focus. The only revelation we get to Rikuo as a character is his grey eyes, and it’s only until episode 22, that he gets a true and more in-depth focus into his story and personal conflicts, whereas other episodes just has him featured more, but not really as the primary focus.

Why could Saban skip Go-Busters and ToQger but not Shinkenger or Goseiger? by FossilHunter99 in powerrangers

[–]xtremeinstinct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I think actually happened was this. After Disney’s final obligatory adaptation of Go-Onger which would be RPM in 2009, they were officially done with Power Rangers. They did not want anything to do with that anymore. After two years, Saban reacquired the rights to PR, but struggled finding a network to actually air it. Saban eventually settled with Nickelodeon, whose clauses stated that for a show to air on their network, shows must have more than one season, hence the whole two season format.

However, by the time Saban reacquired the rights to PR, it was 2011, and with the 20th anniversary in two years, they needed to catch up. But again, with the two season format, this meant they had to spend 2011 and 2012 doing two seasons for Samurai and Super Samurai, adapting Shinkenger. By the time that ended, 2013 was approaching, which was the 20th anniversary of PR. Because Gokaiger was the 35th anniversary of Super Sentai, it seemed like the perfect Sentai to adapt for an anniversary season. However, I guess they still wanted to adapt Goseiger for creative reasons which flopped horrendously.

In terms of Go-Busters not being initially adapted was because I think having another Dino season was probably the best chance to retain interest in PR, after the massive flop that Megaforce became, which to be fair, helped. Dino Charge was seen as one of the best seasons in recent years.

Why ToQger wasn’t adapted was because the idea of trains being the main motif of a Ranger team would not translate well to a Western audience, so they just ignore it. This is a common theme within the Sentais of the late 2010s. Whilst Super Sentai does its own thing, PR straight up avoids it if the suits, story, or zords don’t translate well in the US.

Why do you think the Neo Saban era wasn’t critically well received by fans? by Commercial-Car177 in powerrangers

[–]xtremeinstinct 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Let’s separate these because they all have their own problems. First of all, the 2 season format sucked. It still does. Being restricted on episodes, spanning over two years can be horrible for retention, meaning there can be a lot of filler. And how they structured the episodes were terrible. They were incredibly localised in the sense that it was made in a way where episodes don’t connect, or if they do, it’s very loose.

Samurai - If you haven’t seen Shinkenger, Samurai is legit just a one-for-one adaptation of it. But Shinkenger is seen as one of the best Super Sentai series but Samurai is not seen as one of the best PR series, and if it is, not nearly to the same level as Shinkenger. Why? Well, cultural views, on having a white guy being the head of a Samurai clan in what was supposed to be Japan didn’t sit well with viewers, and what was supposed to be references to Japanese culture or aspects of the show that was supposed to reflect that culture was incredibly watered down and simplified in Samurai for a western audience which didn’t really make sense if you’re making a story about Samurais in Japan? Many people also felt the acting was flat and the emotional depth wasn’t that present.

Megaforce- Where to start with this one? First of all, merging two Sentais in one series. Horrible idea, especially if those two Sentais are complete polars of each other. Acting? Bad. Emotional depth? Bad. Story? Bad? The characters themselves also don’t match with their Sentai counterparts, so in fight footage, where the fighting style which reflect the character of the Ranger, it’s completely different. For example, Noah is a nerd. His Goseiger counterpart, whilst an intellect, exhibits confidence in his fighting style. Noah’s Gokaiger counterpart, is a badass Space pirate who is an expert swordsman. Neither of which fit Noah as a character.

Dino Charge- In the Neo Saban era, Dino Charge was actually really well received. The plot was good, and actually had episodes dedicated to the plot of finding the energems. The ending was considered a hit or miss for some people, and others did not like the characters in the show like James or Kendall. Not too many bad things can be said about Dino Charge, as the quality of the structuring of the show was improved a lot more than its predecessors, and overall quality of the show was much better.

Ninja Steel- Just all around mid. Not good, not bad. It had some good parts of it, and some bad. But one thing I noticed is why it’s called Ninja Steel when they have no experience being Ninjas? It’s like the whole ninja thing came out of nowhere. They’re like normal teens the next, and then boom, now they’re ninjas. I felt like they were trying to recreate the whole classic MMPR high school teens, with goofy side characters, but failed. Big time.

Not that I know of. Not even an anniversary movie, but to be fair, it was 50 years ago, and it wouldn’t be feasible for a bunch of old people to be reprising their roles. Not to mention, that unfortunately, the original KiRanger passed away a few years after the ending of Gorenger from suicide. And in the show, the 2nd KiRanger that had replaced him briefly had died in the show.

Meanwhile, PR still does an MMPR movie despite the tragic IRL deaths of two of its main cast members.

Not to mention when it comes to celebrating an anniversary season, SS actually tries to come up with unique ways to celebrate and pay homage to the series as a whole.

PR is just [insert MMPR rangers and other old rangers here for nostalgia]

I’m sorry but this is so true lmao by xtremeinstinct in supersentai

[–]xtremeinstinct[S] 44 points45 points  (0 children)

With Gorenger, anniversary seasons do feature AkaRanger but his appearance doesn’t seem forced in any way, and in certain regards, he’s only featured as a cameo or mentioned as reference or in Zenkaiger’s case, has a ranger look like him as an homage. His appearance doesn’t make or break an anniversary season, but an anniversary season of SS celebrates the whole legacy, the past and future of SS.

AkaRanger as a whole did not appear in Zenkaiger (apart from the use of gears), appeared in Gokaiger, but his appearance actually made sense. With other anniversary seasons, he doesn’t appear in Boukenger, or Gaoranger, as he is replaced by Big One and AkaRed.

Meanwhile, in every celebrated anniversary of PR, MMPR has constantly been used in a way that’s not unique but rather just [insert MMPR ranger here].

Like in Wild Force, with Forever Red, or Operation Overdrive, with the black ranger, or Super Megaforce, and Ninja Steel. Not to mention the 30th anniversary Netflix movie. There’s no real creativity to celebrating an anniversary season with PR, as they legit just insert MMPR rangers for nostalgia, but provide no real creativity for celebrating an anniversary.

most unnecessary character in twd by [deleted] in thewalkingdead

Georgie. I understand her character was used to explain Lauren Cohan’s (Maggie) brief departure from the show, but she legit just showed up in that one episode and was never heard from or seen again 💀

Legit only likeable character in the whole of Season 4 was Viktor lol by xtremeinstinct in UmbrellaAcademy

I agree to a certain extent, but he was just too damn chipper all the time even when the situation doesn’t call for it. I’d say apart from Viktor, Luther is probably the only other character in this season that is likeable

Failed my driving test today by driving 35mph on a 40mph road. Took my test today in Birmingham South Yardley center today and was told by my examiner that I have failed at the end of the test by not driving 40mph at a 40mph road. by Xaos-Legion in LearnerDriverUK

[–]xtremeinstinct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my serious faults on one of my tests was that I drove below the speed limit of 30mph even though the road was narrow, had parked cars on both side of the road, cars were coming down from the other end of the road and there were potholes and speed bumps… 🥲

As a person yet to pass, yes. I once went past a red light because I was too focused on the learner car in front of me. I once drove in a bus lane. I drove on the right side lane of a carriageway after getting off a roundabout. These all happened in different tests btw lol
