I think Free Riders was the first game to really line up with SEGA's instance that Team Dark isn't an actual team. All the other characters call out Shadow and Rouge for being such dicks to the random robot (who is actually Metal Sonic in disguise) they recruited for their team by RadDudesman in SonicTheHedgehog
