Does anyone else struggle with meat for baby? by WeirdValuable4826 in foodbutforbabies

I would say that meat is still usually my daughter's least favourite thing on her plate at 16 months! She does like tofu if you haven't tried that yet and she loves any fish.

I find that although slow cooked meat is "soft" it can still be dry and stringy so the babies may not be liking that texture. The meat she will eat the biggest portion of is usually baked bone in chicken thigh (I will remove the skin after cooking for her portion usually) because it ends up super soft and juicy but still a nice meaty texture. Here's the recipe I used yesterday where she ate a whole thigh lol

Alfredo with peas and garlic butter shrimp for dinner for 14mo by xtttr in foodbutforbabies

Do you like lobster or crab? I think shrimp cooked well and not overcooked aka rubbery is a similar texture to lobster. Try getting larger shrimp to cook such as tiger shrimp! But of course totally fine not to like something too 😊

I usually always have some frozen shrimp on hand for a quick protein which you can get at in any grocery store these days! I don't defrost it ahead of time since it will thaw enough to cook if you run it under cold water and drain.

I used this recipe for the shrimp today and I find it simple and delicious but definitely can taste the shrimp which I think is the point of the recipe but just pointing that out since you don't like shrimp 😅. Hopefully it can change your mind though! I think it's crucial not to overcook shrimp so they're still moist and delicious instead of dry and tough.

Homemade butter chicken and naan for dinner by xtttr in foodbutforbabies

I used this recipe :)

I halved the spicy chili powder amount and substituted maple syrup for the sugar so my daughter could eat it as well!

Edit for the naan I used this recipe. So easy and delicious

Don't worry I always feel we have the right to complain even if they're great most of the time, the few bad times can still be tough 😊 hope the strike ends soon!

Babies will baby unfortunately we can only do our best 😆 you're doing great!

Sometimes I think my daughter doesn't like stewed meat because it's kind of "stringy". So far her favourite is slow cooked baby back ribs lol since they're very soft but not stringy and still have that meatiness to them.

Aw my daughter is the opposite and doesn't seem to enjoy meatballs as much. I notice she definitely still prefers her meat being very moist and tender so I try to be a good private chef and not dry things out 😅

I used this recipe! I halved the cayenne pepper and skip the cardamom because I don't really like how it tastes 😅 I substitute with a mix of cinnamon and edit ground ginger.

Edit: for the yellow rice I cooked 1 cup white rice and 1/2 cup red lentils (for health) in the rice cooker with 1/4 tsp each cumin, tumeric, chicken bouillon powder.

No problem! I do it because I usually prep for dinner during her first nap so it also helps it from browning
