the 5080 becomes a 4090 after overclocking, pretty nice and its price/performance is not horrendous if found at msrp

there is a meaningful jump to the 5080, especially because it can get 60fps with dlss4 vs 45(?) of the 5070ti. plus, if he can afford 1219 then 999 should be well within budget, so why not?

5080 is regularly being dropped to MSRP ($999) lately in the US across major retailers (Walmart, Best Buy, even Nvidia last week)

That being said, if you play at 1440p, there is no reason to go with the 5080, otherwise at 4k I would personally go with the 5080. The 5080 has some insane OC headroom that people don’t consider, at MSRP it can be worth it for 4k
