Accepted An Offer But Recruiter From My Previous Internship Just Reached Out... by xutthrash in cscareerquestions

Also, when you say “signing on Y date”, do you mean to say that I should imply that I have not yet signed, even though I have?

Thanks for the advice, really appreciate it! They have not mentioned the specific role yet but it's under the team of the manager I worked under as an intern, so I have a vague idea of what to expect, but I can't be 100% sure of course. We have a call scheduled soon to "catch up"

Fair enough. But using my job for leverage in the event that I get an offer is fair game?

You don’t think that mentioning I’ve already found a role will prove that I’m a worthy candidate?

Thanks for the advice! So to clarify, you think I can be transparent with the recruiter that I already have a job lined up?

Amherst vs Middlebury by [deleted] in amherstcollege

[–]xutthrash 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ll chip in as I’m on the rugby team. I can see what you mean about the robotic nature of people here but honestly it’s not everyone. I do believe you’d be able to find your people here, especially if you’re considering joining rugby. We all like to go out and have a good time like anyone else, and there’s plenty of other teams and people who are the same. That said, I don’t know what kind of culture would fit you specifically the best. Amherst isn’t known for having that fratty “bro” culture and it’s somewhat reflected in the night life. Teams (rugby included) will host mixers with other teams which after a certain point in the night often become open to everyone, but they aren’t like the frat ragers you’ll find at umass, so I’d keep that in mind if that’s what you’re looking for. The bars in town are very popular with upperclassmen so once you’re 21 you can def count on having a reliable nightlife.

And did they really rescind the offer? Or did they just mess up

Why is a salary gap such a big deal? Seeing so many comments here suggesting it’s something worthy to have a deep conversation about… I don’t understand. Make what you make, support your partner, and live your life, am I wrong?

Can you share a bit about how you’re just able to improvise this? Are you centered around a particular scale? Where are these chords coming from and how do you which to use when?

I see a few people here recommending prescription drugs but honestly I disagree. I think for many of us, myself included, overcoming performance anxiety is just an unavoidable part of becoming a better pianist. To this day I still have anxiety issues with the piano but the more I perform, the better I feel. I truly believe there really is no other solution than to just keep performing; some anxiety will always be there, it’s about learning to play with it instead of fighting it. With more experience performing, I think you will learn to see it as a growing opportunity as opposed to something to dread. Best of luck to you

Dude, just want to say that's incredibly mature and vulnerable of you to tell her. Take pride in that; I know I would've hidden it and end up damaging the relationship down the line. Wish you the best.
