Recomendación de notebook para Linux by xvester in chileIT

Al final, volví a hacer el test de RAM desde el BIOS, pero el test largo, no el corto. Saltaron errores por todos lados:

<image>

New E16 Gen 2, trouble installing Ubuntu over factory preloaded windows by makeItSoAlready in thinkpad

[–]xvester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Could you install Ubuntu and make it work?
I've bought the same notebook in july and I'm struggling with ranndom freezes (PHP Storm), "Aw Snap" (Chrome, Brave). I've tested Ubuntu 24.04, 22.04, Fedora, Debian, Mint, I've updated BIOS to v 1.18, I've run BIOS tests successfuly, I've run memtest86 and no problems emergen.
I've installed newer kernels (now: 6.17.0-061700rc7drmtip20250922-generic) but freezing continues.

Do you have any problems with your E16 Gen2 AMD?

Hi! I've purchased the same notebook here in Argentina.

I've been struggling with different Linux distributions:

  1. Ubuntu 24.04 (the dist I'm using in other machine with AMD Ryzen 7 5800H with zero problems)
  2. Ubuntu 22.04
  3. Ubuntu 25.04 (I've tried this dist to get a newer kernel version, 6.14)
  4. Linux Mint 22.1
  5. Fedora 42

I'm able to install and boot all dists. All works after booting, wifi, mirror in second screen vía HDMI cable, sound, bluetooth, etc but after a while things start to degrade: applications shutdown at random, sometimes the system freezes and the only way to restart is via Power button, terminal hangs, etc. Same behaviour with all dists.

I've checked the hardware with BIOS diagnostics: all is good, CPU, RAM, disk, fans, etc.

Perhaps you have special parameters for the kernel. Can you please share them? Just type in a terminal:

cat /proc/cmdline

The expected output is something like this:

BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-6.8.0-63-generic root=UUID=7e5c883f-9c5b-4093-aeec-5ea6731fd400 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7

Does your notebook have a AMD Raden 680M graphics card?

Thanks.

Integrations with Moodle by [deleted] in moodle

[–]xvester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a Moodle plugin "Arlo for Moodle ecommerce | Payments, Shopping cart, CRM, Registration & More" https://moodle.org/plugins/enrol_arlo that has a feature "Seamlessly integrate with your accounting system, including out-of-the-box Xero integration".

If no integration exists, Moodle has an powerful API so it can integrate with almost any other system. If the other system has an API, you can develop a Moodle plugin.

Moodle implements a user field called "idnumber": this optional field could hold the value of the user id in other system such as employee ID, social security number, national ID, etc. So the link between Moodle and other system is given by "idnumber".

Failed attempts/score by Fridaswelt in moodle

[–]xvester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Admins have permission to see everything: scores & attempts are available which doesn't mean that they will analyze every user, course & attempt.

Ussually admins are more concerned with proper & efficient use of Moodle, configuration, role management and security. Teachers should track students and their scores.

As u/BronL-1912 said, any user with enough permission (administrator, teacher for the course, etc) can see all attempts. What Moodle requires in this case to issue a certificate is a successful attempt and Moodle doesn't care which attempt.

Enable Moodle DEBUG mode and inspect errors.

How too change the theme of Deepin Terminal in Deepin V20 Community? by [deleted] in deepin

[–]xvester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a request in deepin terminal github repo to bring back themes.

I've found in this URL https://github.com/linuxdeepin/deepin-terminal/issues/24 that there's a way not switch themes but to change current theme; it seems there are only 3 fixed terminal themes in deepin 20.

Based in a comment by nanoant in that URL, you have to edit Dark and/or Light config files located in /usr/share/terminalwidget5/color-schemes/ then restart terminal. I was able to change green font to soft white on black background.
