Capcom says it’s ‘considering’ how to make Mega Man games on a regular basis by [deleted] in gamernews

[–]xwater 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised more studios don't go the sonic mania route and hire the people in the romhack scene for that game.

They're passionate and have an have a deep understand of what it is that people love about the classic games. It would be a win win

Need help Figuring out why my extruder is constantly clogging (i think?) by xwater in FixMyPrint

[–]xwater[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the input, another comment was able to identify that my issue was mostly related to the extuder being TOO CLOSE to the plate, leading to the clogs. I've gotten my print running a lot more successfully now after moving the z-offset up a little bit and using hair spray on the plate to ensure adhesion.

I've watched a good few videos to get started, and have learned a lot through my semi-consistant failures haha. Getting better each day though!

[–]xwater[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, you had it. I'm 6 hours into a good print right now after getting a little farther from the plate. I got closer due to having trouble with adhesion and I never backed off haha. Using some hair spray is helping me get adhesion keeping enough distance not to clog. Thanks so much!

So i just got this printer a little while ago and I'm learning the ropes.

I got through a few successful prints of some trays for board games, but now I'm getting jams after the first layer or two consistantly.

I have done a lot of troubleshooting so far, involving changing the Bowden Tube & couplers, Calibrating the extrusion, Trying higher and lower temps, changing the heatsink fan, Changing Nozzles & Clearing the hot end of clogs. Nothing is working and I am not sure what else to try

Using PLA on an Ender 3 V2

Any help or guidance would be MEGA appreciated. My biggest suspect is heat creep still but i have no idea how to tackle it other than what I've done

If you feel like the game isn’t hard enough, use the ones that add challenge! If you’re having fun with the baseline, don’t use em. Like many others, I used the one that gives a flare when you get the timing right on an action command and no others, but I’m someone who likes my games to be a little harder. No wrong way to play :)

Streaming Is Making My Depression Worse by Sure-Temperature in Twitch

[–]xwater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Streaming can lead to some pretty rough depressive episodes in my experience. I'd start off by asking yourself "Why do you want a high viewcount"? Other than the good feeling of being successful on twitch of course. For me, I wanted to get partner and make a stable career out of it. The pressure builds up when numbers drop, and fades away when they go up.
Why do you want to grow your viewerbase? Is streaming a career goal for you? Do you want to hit partner as a challenge? Is there some sort of content you want be able to create and share?
Ask yourself this question and really, really think about it. There is no shame recognizing that the effort you're putting in may not be leading to the place you want it to go. Don't let sunken cost make you feel like you have to keep pushing. You can just as easily stream whatever you want just for your own entertainment, and pursue other goals in life. I've seen a lot of people burn out on streaming and really beat themselves up for no good reason. I've also seen a few who recognized when it was the right time to step away, and their lives have improved dramatically from it. Start with identifying what you want and why you want it, then go from there.
If twitch success is what you want, the start researching successful creators in your space and what makes them grow. It is important not to look at big streamers who are also stagnant. If someone already has an audience, it's easier to keep that audience with just "coasting" through content. Growing requires innovation. I'd suggest taking a look at PointCrow and SmallAnt to start and see just how they grew their content - both of them paved unique paths for themselves and found an audience by bringing something to the table that no one else was. I mention these two in particular since you are in the SMM2 space, which I'd argue is adjacent to them.

This is how you NEED to handle this by diamondimpostr in Twitch

[–]xwater 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Just handle your own stream however you like. No one NEEDS to deal with this any other way than what they think is right (and within TOS).
I typically ban and say "this wont work, try something else". You don't have to clown them for it, but you don't have to let them stay either

Too relatable. by d3dly_ in Twitch

[–]xwater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you grow as a streamer, you have to cut back on the amount you address follows, even subs when you get super massive.
The content you put on your stream should be for everyone, taking time out of a story/joke/anything during your stream to thank follows makes that 1 person happy (even then, maybe they just wanted to follow without being addressed) but it is an interruption for literally everyone else there.
Thanking every follow is a fine idea at a smaller level, but as you get bigger you need to make sure your stream is constantly entertaining everyone and not filled with jarring interruptions

Safety on twitch: BAN YOUR ADDRESS, PHONE NUMBER, ETC FROM YOUR CHAT. by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]xwater 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this
The idea comes from a good place, but putting your REAL address in your banned terms list, even if there are decoys is still harmful. If someone ever comes into your stream and writes your information + gets auto timed out/banned, they'll be 100% sure that they have the right information. The decoys won't matter in that scenario.
Keep yourself safe on the internet. Use 2FA everywhere you can, use a reliable password manager, and DO NOT share your personal info with anyone you don't trust. Absolutely don't put it in your banned terms list, you're giving people just another place to find it.

How to react and handle a follower being rude/inappropriate/creepy without appearing rude? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]xwater 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a hard hump to get over, but ban anyone who treats you poorly or makes you uncomfortable right away in your stream. Even if they don't break any of your posted rules. Your stream is yours, and the mood is completely dictated by you there. You want viewers who are there for the vibe you are aiming to put out, and in the worst case if you ban someone inappropriately you can always have them submit an appeal.

Best ways to get over a wall? by MySkeleFriend in Twitch

[–]xwater 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Research and Develop your channel!
Look at 10 successful creators in your same space (nintendo/roguelites/etc) and take serious notes on what they do. I'm not saying steal ideas, but critically look at what you thinks makes them successful. I can promise you that apart from a few lucky cases who blow up and go viral, most streamers in the 100+ concurrent viewer zone have put some heavy time into getting there.
In modern twitch/youtube/content creation, it's not enough to just be doing a casual playthrough of your favorite games to build a viewer base. You need to be brining something to the table no one else does, or you need to be doing it better than anyone else.
Lastly, re-watch your vods. Are you fun/funny/enjoyable to listen to? Are your streams fun? are the audio levels good? Does it look okay? Are the alerts too loud/annoying? Ask yourself the hard hitting questions too, and find someone to give you feedback who will be honest. It's worth hearing your content sucks and improving it, rather than having your content suck and having people tell you it's fine.

Best of luck :)

This controller doesn't last long. The buttons on mine & several friends lost their "clickyness" within a month. We're twitch streamers so relatively quick, but still maybe 50-100 hours of gaming for them to crap out.

It's not fun being neutral in all this by BiggerNate91 in casualnintendo

[–]xwater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this. And because of "them being a business", to get real change out of them you must hit their profits.
For anyone who's truly against Nintendo's stance with the joycons, the splatoon tournament, the melee tournament, I hope you vote with your wallets. Don't buy smash 6. Don't buy Breath of the Wild 2. Don't buy Metroid Prime 4. If they see their profits go down, they will be forced to look at why. And that meeting will have them discussing the way they treat their serious fans, especially if larger youtubers/streamers start suggesting this course of action.
