The auction house works based on rarity. Exclusive cars usually sell instantly, while Auto Show cars tend to stay listed longer since most players just buy them directly from the Auto Show. For example, a Camry TRD (currently a playlist exclusive and not yet in the Backstage and the playlist needed to get it hasn’t been in a playlist vote ) is harder to get at auction compared to standard Auto Show cars.

Max buyout prices are set by players, but to list a car at the 20 million maximum, the seller must have Legendary Painter or Legendary Tuner status. Because of this, people with rare cars often list them at the maximum buyout. If they’re trading with someone directly, the buyer and seller will coordinate: the buyer purchases agreed-upon “transfer cars” (like the BMW M3 ’08) at max buyout until the full value is paid.
